Instead of WDWFG t-shirts......

First off, I will say this is not my idea. There is a thread on another forum (not Dis) that caught my eye, since we've been discussing maybe having t-shirts to identify each other in the parks.

Anyway, what about a tag that we could print off at home, and just attach to a backpack, purse, camera case, etc.? That way, it would be visible every day, not get dirty like a shirt, etc. I have no graphic arts skills whatsoever, so I can't suggest a design, but you guys are so creative, I bet you could come up with something great.

What do you think? Is this a good idea or not? Should I be ashamed I want to *poach* someone else's idea?

Edit: I should have reflected a little more before I posted this. I am not comfortable *stealing* someone else's ideas and creativity. Admin - is there any way to remove this post?

No, I wasn't suggesting we use their design, or logo or anything. Just the idea of making it a tag, instead of a button or shirt. On second thought, I just figured we wouldn't want to be copy cats.

I haven't had much sleep the past few days, and I'm not thinking all that clearly. Four days after we got home from WDW, Peter came down with pneumonia, and has been coughing non-stop ever since. I love him dearly, and am worried about him, but at this point I'm contemplating the "smother him with a pillow" cure! laugh

Aren't they going to make our room keys, tickets, etc. wristbands in the near future? It might compete or get lost in the visual clutter. I am not a bracelet kind of girl, and can barely tolerate a watch. I wonder if Disney has thought of people like me when they decided to go this route?

Finngirl - it's a great idea! To recognize friends and to promote the site as well! Now, we just need someone to speerhead it. I believe Mr. Hub did something similar a while back.

I hope Peter feels better in short order. Post vacay sickness is the worst.

Thanks you NSCRGal5 and LizzyB. I am not a very good nurse, and he is not a very good patient. He is almost never sick - I think he's taken one sick day in 10 years! So when he IS sick, he doesn't quite know what to do with himself. Today he's a bit better, so I'm hoping we both get some sleep tonight.

I was already in post-Disney depression, and this doesn't help. Thank heavens for trip reports - I can pretend I'm still feeling the magic. I spent some time this afternoon looking at Kristen's photos, and that cheered me right up. awesome

We talked about this on another thread awhile back and I got the go ahead to move forward. So a WDWFG Gear Store is being worked on currently. I apologize for not moving faster on it but the past few weeks have been a little crazy. Brad's got it on my "to do" list for when I get back from vacation. mickey

When you say "tag" are you thinking of a QR code? Or just something that says WDW For Grown Ups?

I was visualizing something like a luggage tag that just could be attached to a stroller, purses, etc. A file on the website that could be accessed to print off a tag whenever you wanted, with whatever design Admin decided on, and whatever size you wanted. Charge a small fee for access even? I remember the thread about shirts, but wasn't sure if it was going to be possible.

I will say again - this is not my idea, and came from another forum. (I would give them credit, but I'm not sure what the rules are about links to other websites in this case). I still feel bad about "stealing" the idea, but I just thought it was so elegant and simple. I am fine with deleting this thread if you think that's the appropriate thing to do - I can't see a way to do it myself.

Ok,.. I'll 'fess up, I don't have a DILLIGAF tattoo,... and only know 1 biker ( an old biker) who does. Did have a few t-shirts with it though,.. which brings us back around to the main topic of this thread. Wow,.. what a segue.

Too bad it's hot mostly in Florida... We could go all biker jackets. Look all hard and we got Mickey on our backs.

But in all seriousness... I think either a cool bracelet, ring or a necklace with a logo would be pretty slick. I know when I'm in Florida... And especially now since we have Urban... I'll be sporting OSU stuff... So a necklace, ring or bracelet would be real cool to sport.

Home made laminated tags are easy - all we have to come up with is a tasteful yet clearly noticeable graphic. It could be something Like a clever hidden Mickey or maybe even more obvious . . .
With mrhub's QR code on the backside. . .
It could be a bright neon or optic yellow. . .or safety orange. .
It could even be in the Of a Mickey Bar or turkey leg. . .
Or the castle. . .

biggrin

I don't carry anything in the parks. If it won't fit in my pockets, I don't need it when I'm in the parks. So noplace to tie a tag.

I do, however, wear a brimmed hat to keep the sun off my eyes and face. So whatever you all come up with, I'll make myself a hatband equivalent that I can wrap around/pin to my hat.

Speaking for myself I am a Tshirt person so I much prefer to wait and see what Kristen comes up with and hope that there is a shirt in the WDWFG gear store. I just do not look at people closely enough to see a button or a wristband or any thing except maybe their Tshirt.

Great ideas everyone! I'll make sure that admin checks out the thread and we'll do some brain storming. I'm sure we can come up with a couple of options for everyone to play with!

One more idea - I don't know if this has been mentioned before.... Do you know anything about CafePress? You upload a digital image, and they take care of printing out t-shirts, mugs, etc. The owner of the image gets a royalty, and you have no concerns about tying up money in inventory, having too much of one thing and not enough of another, etc. I know someone who has done this, and gets a nice little check every now and then, with no worries and headaches.

A radio host here in Columbus was fired unjustly recently, and a group started up a sticker and sign campaign through that. Got myself a car magnet and it was only $4.50.

I mentioned Cafepress to Brad a while back when I was making up some shirts and stickers and such. I've bought some stuff thru there from the Tikiman's site.
