Day 6

Our last full day, sob Sad we packed a lot in though so grab a drink and put your feet up, its gonna be a long one Wink

We were up pretty early, we wanted to make full use of our last day! We skipped breakfast and decided to head straight to Epcot.

Look at that beautiful sign *love* <3 <3

You cant have a full TR without a pic of that pretty sign Smile Its a far cry from my attempt in March...

Awful. I feel suitably ashamed of it Wink

I wasn't feeling 100% today and as we wanted to try and pack in a few more things into our day we decided that I would hire an ECV so we got in the queue to hire one. We arrived just at the wrong point as there was a big queue but no one joined after us, it did mean we could have a chat with the CM's there though which was lovely Smile The young guy who took our money was very complimentary about my dress and seemed very impressed that I made it myself, I mentioned to him that I probably should have paid closer attention to the fabric before I used it though as it clearly says 'for rent' across my left boob Shock he laughed so hard when I pointed it out! I felt comfortable enough pointing it out to him - I don't think he would have had a good look, if you catch my drift Wink The guys showing me to the ECV were really fun too, joking and teasing me.

I had made our fastpasses for MK later today so we were just taking it easy this morning. We went get a return time at Soarin' on the DAS card. I waited at the top while Sy went down to get it signed so I didn't have to navigate the lift in the ECV. There was quite a wait so we headed off towards World Showcase, we wanted to say a final farewell to Ann-Marie so that's where we headed. She was serving a queue of people so we amused ourselves while we waited...

Once she had cleared her queue we had a chat and then had to say goodbye, we didn't want to get her into trouble while she was working!

We then made our way further on round World Showcase. We stopped in France for this beauty, the one alcoholic drink I had all week...

La Vie En Rose

I managed about 1/3rd of the drink before having to give up and hand it to Sy, I don't think he minded Wink

We carried on wandering round but by now our tummies were rumbling so we stopped in the America pavilion for this...

It was scrummy Laughing out loud

We carried on round WS, grabbing a soft drink in China on our way round. It was SO hot today, we made it all the way round but by this point we were so hot we decided to skip our DAS return time for Soarin' and instead head over to MK. We needed the AC of the car Wink I returned the ECV and we made our way to the car. We drove over to MK, parked up and made our way over on the monorail (aircon!). We arrived at about 2pm and it was so HOT. I tried to pick up an ECV however they had run out, I was a bit miffed at this as before I rented the ECV in Epcot I asked if I would be able to pick one up in MK later and I was told yes, not yes if they haven't sold out (I didn't even know that they sold out!). Sy offered to push me in a manual but as it was so hot I didn't think that was fair, I said lets go and watch the parade and try again after it had finished - as lots of people leave after the parade.

We wandered down Main Street, well by that I mean we walked through the shops Wink (Aircon!). We grabbed a drink in Casey's and then headed to the hub to grab a spot for the parade, I did have a fastpass for the parade but right next to it was the disabled viewing area which was far emptier so I cancelled our fastpass and we were allowed into the disabled area. This area has no shade whatsoever. None. We tried sitting right at the back on the floor, if we leaned back we could keep our heads in the shade just about. The floor was also seriously hot, luckily I had brought a towel with me (for the hot leather on the ECV's) so I could sit on that. Shortly before the parade was due to start the CM came over to us to let us know that she would be removing the ropes just as the parade started so we should move to the front to make sure we could still see. I sat at the front on my towel and Sy stood behind me trying to shield me from the sun somewhat. The floor was still really hot through the towel though Shock We were dying for another drink and tried to flag down one of the vendors but she said she couldn't stop... However there were a few after her who did stop but all on the other side of the street Sad The parade soon arrived though and it was every bit as wonderful as what I could see in March Laughing out loud

As soon as the parade was over we went right into the shop again, we needed to buy some drinks and get into the aircon! It really was SO hot we had to go back to the hotel, we were very uncomfortable (read sweaty) from being in the direct sunlight for so long. We decided to stop at Taco Bell on the way for some food, we hadn't really eaten much at all today.

Back at the hotel we both felt quite unwell from the heat Sad we had some pain killers for the headaches and decided to head down to the pool to cool down and chill out for a little bit. Unfortunately there were a lot of unsupervised children around who were running and jumping between the pool and hot tub :-/ I was being a princess and not wanting to get my hair too wet so it was mightily annoying me lol. That wasn't the worst thing about our trip to the pool that day though, oh no. Have a look at this picture and see if you can spot anything...

Any ideas? That man bent over was clipping his toenails and flicking the bits of nail away. O.M.G. HOW DISGUSTING?!?! It was so awful, I took a picture. I mean, who does that?? I can't lie, I was so grossed out I went back to the room for a shower.

A pic of us in the pool before the toenail incident...

After I got out the shower and walked past the mirror and noticed that I had 2 big red marks on the underneath of my bottom, hmmm... They were boiling hot too... took me a moment to realise that I had only gone and burnt my tush on the pavement in MK! Who knew you could even do that?? Sy went to get some ice and then held iced flannels on my burnt bits Sad he didn't seem to mind though Shock Joking aside, it was really uncomfortable... It went down by the next morning though, it didn't blister or anything.

Once we had cooled down and treated my buns Wink we got dressed again and headed back to MK. We parked up and took the boat in. We arrived just as one boat closed it's doors so had to wait for another but the next was soon arriving and we nabbed some seats onboard next to a lovely couple who we chatted to all the way over. They live in Florida the lucky people so visit Disney frequently... I'm not jealous though... nope.

We had all 3 fastpasses to use tonight, Big Thunder, Splash and one more which I can't remember*** (damn lack of note taking! Must not do this in October!). Sy went through bag check while I went straight inside where I bumped into the couple we were talking to on the boat and we added each other to facebook Smile gone are the days when you swap numbers eh Wink hehe Sy was soon through and we said goodbye to the lovely couple and headed over to the ECV hire desk, luckily they some now so I was able to hire one again for the rest of the evening. We showed the hire receipt from this morning and paid another $20 deposit. I was soon rolling away.

*** OMG how could I forget our last Fastpass???? It was only ANNA and ELSA! (ps, just remembered lol)

Where was I? Oh yes, it was getting on for dusk now and our ride on Big Thunder Mountain. Followed by Splash on which I took about a million pictures so here are just a few of them...

Singalong everyone... "pretty good show us ya.... Wink "

Afterwards we went to get a spot for the Main Street Electrical Parade.

I wasn't prepared for the amount of people after the parade, we wanted to get a spot somewhere so we could watch the Celebrate the Magic show however there were just people EVERYWHERE. I started to have a bit of a panic attack Sad and being on the ECV wasn't helping as I was just so worried that I was going to be one of 'those people' who ran into someone. We managed to find somewhere on the side of the bridge between Liberty Square and Main Street, there was a little pocket where no one was, it was hard to get over there though as no one wanted to let me pass. Trust me people, if you think crowds are awful when you are walking, try being in them in an ECV where people just jump in front of you in any gap you leave (so that you don't hit the people in front). By the time we made it over to the edge I had a little cry Sad God, what a wimp!! I started to calm down though and Celebrate the Magic came on, we couldn't really see it from where we were, there were loads of trees in the way and it was a side on view but there were no crowds, small mercies. After the show people moved on and we were able to move over the bridge a bit more and get a spot to see Wishes which wasn't too bad Smile

After the fireworks had finished and the crowds had dispersed again we moved on to a much less busy Main Street and actually managed to find a spot right in front of the castle for the next showing of Celebrate the Magic. We knew it was too good to be true though as shortly after, a CM came along and told us we were right in the fastpass area for MSEP, damn! We asked if we would be able to stand in front of the area on the road to watch CtM and then leave and she said that it would be fine. Yes! Crisis averted and still a perfect view Smile However just as it was coming up to show time a CM came along and told us we had to move Sad thankfully though she took pity on us as we promised to move the second the show was over, we were allowed to stay and watch Smile YAY! Thank you lovely CM Laughing out loud I tried to get a picture of the awesome spot... it didn't really turn out too well lol

Take 2...

The show was awesome Smile I've only seen it once and that was aaaages ago. It was even better than I remembered, it really touched me and made me want to cry. Everyone was singing along to the Frozen bit too which was super cute!

Once it was over we were true to our word and left the area right away. We had somewhere to be anyway... Somewhere VERY special to be in fact, a Royal Engagement you might say Wink Yes, it was time to meet the lovely ladies themselves. Anna and Elsa! We had our elusive fastpasses so we walked straight in (I parked outside). There was no wait and we were shown into a room that had just 1 family in front of us and no one came in after (I think the girls had to go and check on Olaf after us). They were so much fun, and it was brilliant being the last guests as while we were waiting to meet Elsa, Anna kept chatting away to us Laughing out loud We did spend a lot of time talking about chocolate cake.

It was soooo late by the time we had met the girls so we decided to head on our way home. We headed back up Main Street and handed over the ECV. We caught the monorail back (as I hate the little bugs on the boats at night).

Back at the hotel I did some organising, not quite packing but sorting ready to pack in the morning. We were feeling sad but we had such a great day that luckily the sadness didn't put too much of a dampener on it Smile

When you say "big drop" on Kali, how big are we talking? We've never tried Kali but we have a FP for September. I didn't know about any big drop... eek

Don't worry it's not that bad. It's smaller than Splash Mountain mickey

Yes, totally wrong choice of words.... what I actually mean is *the only drop* rather than *big drop* its not that big, I promise. Def smaller and less steep than Splash. Its probably more like POTC. Sorry to panic you!

I just love the little details, its one of the things that makes Disney so special for me, all the little details and effort they go to Smile I still mourn the loss of the Disney napkins....

also I'm sure I have missed this but what size car did you have for this vacation? we have a intermediate SUV booked is that about the same size???? never hired a car before so not really sure but if it's about that size I'm happy!!!!

Ooooh yes, that's what size we had too! with Alamo Smile

I love Kali, but I'm all about the water rides (which I think Disney is a bit lacking in if I'm honest, least in ones that actually get you wet). I feel really deprived if I go to AK and don't ride Kali.

Ooooo yay I'm excited now!!!!

see I love water rides in theory and we can deal with wet tops but its the wet shorts etc that really bothers me - we may compromise and take spares with us because I think we need to ride the wet rides!!!!

Day 7

Hometime Sad

We were up about 9am, we decided to ask at reception if we could have a later check out, that way we could take it easy at the resort and have a swim. We had planned (and I had made fastpasses) for MK but we decided that considering the heat, we didn't fancy going to get all sweaty and minging in the park and then have to stay like that throughout the plane journey till we got home.

We got dressed and took some pics around the resort seeing as we hadn't stopped to take any yet (always too busy running from one place to the next!) I say pics around the resort, these are the only half decent ones, all of the others either didn't come out or have us in them and we look awful haha.

We walked over to reception to ask about the late check out and we were told that would be no problem and no charge, yay! We were hungry for breakfast and as there was a Friendly's right outside the hotel we decided to give it a go, we like to make an effort to try new places on each trip so this would fit the bill. Most of the time we are pleasantly surprised, this time however we were sadly disappointed. I guess the fact that the place was empty should have been our first clue Wink

A girl came over to welcome us and show us to a table right next to the only other 2 tables with people at them, and she left us to peruse the menu.

I decided to go with the waffles with bacon...

While Sy had egg, sausage and pancakes

The food was definitely below par. It was a pretty cheap place to eat, and it felt a bit cheap too. They had loads of ice creams that looked good so maybe one day we will stop in again to try one of them, but for now I don't see us ever needing to go inside for breakfast (or any other meal come to think of it) again.

We paid our very small bill and headed back over to the hotel. We did some packing before getting changed and heading down to the pool. Sadly there wasn't much sun around so there went my idea of a last min tan top-up. Sy jumped straight in the pool while I sat by the side reading my book.

Before long however 2 separate families took up loungers either side of me and started smoking (yuk!!) so I ended up going for a dip. The pool felt a bit chilly to me without the sun to warm me up so I chickened out not long after I got in and headed into the hot tub.

Time was getting on and the inevitable was edging closer and closer so we had to make our way up to the room. We packed the last of our belongings, got changed and headed down to reception to check out. Sy parked up outside and I ran in to check out, I made sure to say thanks for the stay and told them what nice staff they had Smile

We both felt so sad as we made that trip back to the airport but what did make it a little easier was knowing we would be back so soon in October, and that we would be there for 3 & 1/2 weeks.

We arrived back at the airport and dropped the car off with Alamo with ease. We were prepared for some hideous queues like in Gatwick however there were loads of check in desks open so we were through in no time. We saw lots of people who were on the same flight as us on the way out and exchanged knowing sad looks.

Bags checked in we headed through security with no queue whatsoever. This is definitely an upside of flying out of Sanford instead of MCO!! Once through we went to the bar to get some food and a drink. I was really worrying about not having anything to eat on the way home so wanted to grab something before we went on. I don't remember what we had but it was very mediocre, but a sure step up from plane food so all's good Wink We got chatting to the family who were behind us in the queue on the way out of London and asked them to join us. They were really interested in DVC so we talked to them and tried to explain about it to them (we have stayed in touch since we got home and they are currently saving up to make their first purchase!).

We were too busy chatting that we almost missed the call for our flight but we managed to make it over there in time, even with me stopping at the shop to get a few drinks on the way. We were soon boarded and the flight left on time. I'd love to say the flight was uneventful however there were a group of 'ladies' who were less than savoury. They insisted on drinking their own booze from duty free, even though you aren't allowed and they were constantly asked not to. It was getting really quite frightening at one point with one of the women squaring up to the male flight attendant telling him he better 'stop there and back down' and to 'get out of her face'. She even said 'I bet if I was white you wouldn't have a problem with me drinking'. We were a few rows back on the other side of the plane however they were shouting so we could clearly hear, I had visions of us being redirected or police waiting for us on return to the UK. People who were sat closer were actually crying though as they were so frightened Sad These women really were very aggressive. They were on our flight out and they were a pain in the bum then also so when a moment arose I went to the back to speak to the steward in question to let him know, he took my details and asked if he would be able to call on me as a witness if need be - they had threatened all sorts, to report him for being racist, unprofessional and said they wouldn't rest till he was out of a job Shock Honestly, I'm astounded by people sometimes I really am.

Apart from that, our flight was fairly smooth and as luck would have it, we were given a set of 3 seats again so we could stretch out a little. We even managed to get a few hours sleep.

We touched down at about 6am uk time and our bags were soon through. Sy's dad was picking us up so we went outside to the drop off area to wait for him Smile we only had to wait for about 10 mins.

Sy was 'working from home' so as soon as we got back to the in laws house and had some food, it was time for him to start work Shock he's a good boy though and did turn his laptop on and do some work, while I went up to his old bedroom and got into his single bed and went to sleep for 3 hours Laughing out loud We drove home during Sy's lunch break and popped into my mums on the way to say hello and drop off a few little goodies we had for them (stuff from Walmart that we can't get at home!).

We had 1 more really important stop to make... Wilbur! We drove over to Sara's house before even dropping the bags at home, I was seriously missing my baby Laughing out loud and what a welcome I got! He went mental!! He was so pleased to see me, rubbing up and down me purring his head off Laughing out loud He had been well looked after with his Aunty Sara though and she was half sad to see him go and half looking forward to a peaceful night's sleep Wink (he likes night time cuddles). We gave Sara all her presents and headed home (Wilbur meowing all the way).

Back at home Sy didn't bother to put his laptop on again, it was too late really Wink he had made a few calls on the journey so it wasn't like he hadn't been working at all... I tried to get on and do some unpacking and put washing on but I was starting to flag again now so the washing got sorted into piles but not actually washed lol. I did manage to unpack our goodies from Walmart though.

The end

Wonderful trip report as usual, Robyn.

So you like Snyder's of Hanover pretzels? Alicemouse and I live quite near the Snyder's pretzel factory, close enough that either one of us could get a job there, although my commute would be a tad longer than hers would. I'm sure they have a factory store if you'd like me to get you a few things. Can't help with the other stuff, though.

As for Friendly's, yeah, it's great for ice cream and that's about it. The only reason I know of why adults would eat there is because their kids want dinner and ice cream and the adults don't want to have to stop twice.

When I read the bit about the man clipping his toenails at the pool I yelled out loud(screamed actually!!!) I am a germaphobe BUT that is absolutely disgusting and he should have been kicked out of the pool area
For that! I would have flipped out if I saw that!

Other than that, it sounds like you had another wonderful Disney vacation yay

I just scanned this again and took a second look at all the American food goodies you stockpiled to take home, and this time it reminded me of a recent trip I took to the nearest Wegman's (supermarket chain), over half an hour's drive each way, just to stock up on foreign foods. And I got...Golden Syrup! Caster Sugar! Wow! Both things you can find at any supermarket anywhere in Britain, but precious commodities for me. So now I can make a treacle tart!

But please tell me, exactly what should I do with that bottle of HP sauce I also purchased? I knew I'd seen it in a recipe somewhere, but now I can't find that recipe, and I haven't got a clue.

Yay!! Great trip report as always, Robyn!! Those women on the flight home sounds perfectly awful. I hope that flight attendant doesn't have any trouble with them! We've eaten at Friendly's on occasion. They have some new sandwiches for lunch that aren't too bad--at least at the chains around here. They're not spectacular and they taste like they're about 10 million calories each, but maybe a bit better than breakfast. Of course, I'm anti-cooked breakfast from anywhere.

And CCP, congrats on the new ticker items!! mickey

Sounds like you had an amazing trip, and I agree with you -- your husband sounds like an awesome guy (funny story about him having to hold ice on your bum, though I'm sure you were hurting at the time!). It's really impressive that you make the most out of your trips, even when things don't go exactly how you planned. I can't wait to hear more about your October trip. It'll be here before you know it. clapping

Fantastic TR Robyn sorry to hear about the return flight some people don't know how to behave properly and that has an impact on everybody else's experience - lets hope nothing happens to the poor flight attendant!

Not long until the next trip!

Enjoyed reading that..But Yeh, I hate the end of a Disney vacation..Back out into the real world..It stinks.. sad
