drj898 - WOW. That is an AWESOME plan. You're gonna rock her socks!!

I have to know: what does "RD" stand for in your itinerary? I was able to make out everything else, and it looks like a KILLER plan!!

I think he's abbreviating Rope Drop.

Yup...RD = rope drop.

I have a question for all of you AKL'ites lol. We're doing the Sunrise Safari, and according to sources, it says they give you a fastpass to Kilimanjaro Safari inside AK. If that's true, does that mean we can't get any more fastpasses til the return time of that one? Do we have to take that fastpass? lol

Great question! I don't have a definitive answer for that one.

If they just hand you a fast pass without sending your ticket through the machine then it's an "extra" fast pass and you'll be able to get another with your tickets. If they send your ticket through a machine, then no, you wouldn't be able to. My guess is that they will just hand you one, but that's just a guess.

Gotcha. We'll make sure of that. It's just a rough thing with rides with us because I don't know if she'll wanna do Kilimanjaro Safari again when we get inside AK. And I also don't know if she'll wanna do more thrill type rides like RnR, ToT, and EE more than once. And I'm afraid she'll call stuff like IASW, Buzz, TSMM, and Pooh "kiddy'' and won't wanna do it more than once. Although I wouldn't wanna do IASW more than once anyways soooo lol.

So many decisions!!

Don't forget to relax and have fun, you seem to have everything down and I'm sure it will be great! If you miss something because she would rather do another thing again it's okay. Just enjoy it Smile

lol okay...thanks again Kristen. I'll just play it by ear as far as riding/seeing stuff twice. If she reacts like I do to RnR, then we'll ride it twice (I hope).

What if uhhmm....there's one of those earth-shattering arguments (no details needed) that leads to a non-existent trip? Kinda way passed that 45-day refund point...

Ya know...hypothetically of course. sad

No no no... everything can be worked out. Compromise. This is the woman that you want to spend the rest of your life with. Take a breather and figure out how to make it right. No one do anything rash. Overcoming arguments like that is what building a life together is all about. All Hypothetically of course.

bighug
Of course, worst case scenario, change the trip a bit (so it's not the same plans as for her and you're not wallowing) grab your best mate (or 3), and have a fantastic guys only adventure. You've got the cash paid out already, you're past the Canex point, all you can do is make the best of it. You could take your Mom, I'm sure she would love it.

Oh my god... could you share that with MY kids? Because, you know, they're teenagers and just don't understand that.

rolling rolling rolling

So glad to hear that it's all hypothetical.
Just keep breathing, you've piled a lot of pressure on this trip, it will all be ok.

It should be a bonus FP that you can use at anytime you would like. They are the best FP's to get.

Whew..okay okay! Your kids will learn....mom's always right. Even when I don't wanna admit it..it's the truth. I trust my mom more than anyone else in the whole world. (something my gf will have to accept) lol

Btw...The ring is a 3stone cluster that looks like a hidden Mickey mickey . The jeweler laughed out loud when I told her that's what it looks like. I got it custom made with my mom's old engagement ring diamonds and my own design...1.4 carat total weight. I don't wanna post a photo til I propose though...just in case my gf decides to Google my username and finds her way (somehow) onto this forum. The top stone is even a bit bigger than the other 3 lol...

WOOOOOO bonus FP for KS!! lol more animals? sure! why not! It's Animal Kingdom!

NEW UPDATES!

I was just on the phone with my TA adding the dining plan, and she insists that we *need* to see Wishes on our arrival day. "What if it rains on your Magic Kingdom day? And you won't truly feel like you're in Disney World until you see Wishes!" She loves Wishes in case you couldn't tell lol...when she goes, she tries to see Wishes every night. SO!

First off....our arrival day, our flight lands at 11:30ish, we'll get to AKL at around 12:30-1pm. We'll hang out and have a bite to eat and drink in the club lounge and then dinner at Boma at 6pm. Our original plan was to head to Downtown Disney for the night to souvenir shop and have drinks. Now instead, we'll leave for Magic Kingdom around 7 after dinner, and get there around 8. We'll do some quick rides (mostly buzz & space mountain I guess lol) and then Wishes is at 10. I um...I think I might propose then. Corny I know..lol..but hey, it's the WDW way, right?

Second...I'm gonna cancel our sunrise safari because of (a) money, and (b) it's soo0o0 dang early! Instead, before our AK day, breakfast is at 8:15 at Tusker.

PS: I thought dining plan TS meals included appetizer (it's just entree + dessert). No problemo though!

I loved breakfast at Tusker House.

TS meals on the deluxe dining plan come with appetizers.

o0o0o0o...I gotcha. Yeah no problemo. And she's not gonna say no. Long story short, she knows I'm going to propose "within the next few weeks or months".

Soo, here's a situation I just realized: My dining plan I just got is $535.40. Deluxe for me would be $895.20. I'll be club level, so there's the lounge for us. Plus ADR's for Boma dinner, Crystal Palace breakfast, Tusker House breakfast, Artist Point dinner, Mama Melrose (Fantasmic) dinner, Sanaa dinner, and Tutto Italia dinner. My plan is to do Tusker, CP, and half of Artist Point OOP. According to my calculations it still comes to less than $900ish which still makes me wanna keep the regular dining plan. What do you think? Bearing of course, that I CAN upgrade.

I just want to say that you are pretty awesome for doing this for your girlfriend! Getting engaged in the most magical place on Earth is pretty amazing!! I have enjoyed reading your post and I am now excited for you lol I say stick with the dinning plan you already have. I can think of way better things to spend the extra money on in Disney lol

lol okay..dining plan it is.

I just wanna say that I'm not going to propose in public (no Wishes proposal)..I'll make it more private. I gotta come up with something. Or maybe it'll be a spur-of-the-moment thing.

Is it bad going to MK after dinner for some rides and Wishes on our arrival day, when neither of us have been to WDW in 5-10yrs?

It's my TA's advice, but there are tons of other TA's on other sites saying otherwise!

HELP!

How does she now know?

I would go to watch wishes personally, but I would make sure you're off to one side when you watch it and get down on one knee after. My hubby proposed to me after new years eve fireworks in DLP and it was busy but I actually really enjoyed it cause everyone around us wanted to kiss us (French thing!) and say congratulations, it made it even more special. You can do the whole talking about how happy you are to be there together and you hope you can come back there again... Etc and then after the fireworks have finished get down one knee Smile

I don't think that it's good or bad, I just think it's a different choice. I don't usually do a park day on my first night, but only because I don't usually opt to have length of stay tickets. If I had the day to use on my tickets I would absolutely go!

I think it depends too on how tired you are. If it's been a very long traveling day, you might not feel like it. But I think there's no better way to start your Disney stay than to wander along Main Street, and maybe do a few rides if they aren't busy. It's a very laid back way to start, and watching Wishes is the perfect ending to a day.

My TA is a Wishes junkie, and kinda thinks that everyone should see Wishes every single day of their WDW vacations no matter where they're staying lol.

I arranged with Disney Floral & Gifts to have a big flower bouquet put in our room as soon as our room is ready when we check-in. And so she'll see the flowers and be so happy...see the view with the animals...and when she turns around to give me a big hug and kiss, i'll be on one knee. Then after that....Boma dinner. And after Boma, it's TOTALLY up to her. Stay at AKL for the night, head to DTD for drinks and souvenir'ing, or head to MK for some late night rides and Wishes. After all...

Magic Kingdom during July is open until 11pm. They're doing a SECOND MSEP at 11pm after Wishes!
http://media.disneywebcontent.com/StaticFiles/DTA-Domestic/pdf/ParkHours/WDW_Operating_Calendar_july.pdf

Here's another thing...our TA felt like we should really have Photopass so she sent me an email this morning telling me that she paid for photopass for us and 5 other clients she was doing a vacation for for us to share. I was soooo excited.
So I go and tell my girlfriend, and she tells me that she's too uncomfortable with that because not only will we be able to see the other 5 families' photos, but they'll be able to see our's too. I tried telling her how we can get a CD and stuff...and shes like well if we can get a photo or two and get some on my point-and-shoot then that's all I really need. A whole CD worth of photos I'll get tired of in another year or so anyway. She doesn't want our photos to be viewable by anyone else. Maybe (hopefully) she'll change her mind by the time we get back and we have the ability to throw our photopass code on the site.

I like the proposal idea.

It was very nice of your travel agent to get the photopass for you. but... honestly, I think it's kind of creepy to give access to photos of total strangers. If I were a parent I wouldn't want my kids photos available to people I didn't know.
