Want to Surprise my Parents

My wife (32), parents (63) and I (33) are leaving this Saturday from MI for WDW all of next week. There will be no kids this trip, just the four of us. My parents are DVC members so they have made many trips, at least once a year. My wife and I want to do a little surprise for them just to say thank you. The problem is we are not sure what there is to do besides the obvious stuff you see on the websites. We have a lot planned this trip which makes it even more challenging. We are doing the dessert fireworks at the Magic Kingdom, dinner at the Rose & Crown in Epcot for the fireworks, the Wild Animal Trek at Animal Kingdom, Dinner at the Flying Fish and cirque du soleil.

My goal is to pick everyone's brain to get some ideas of other things to do, or experiences you have had that would make it a special moment for my parents. I expecting good responses from the experts wink . We are not looking to spend thousands for this, just a few hundred bucks for something special. I have not been to WDW in about 15 years so I'm not sure what has changed, or any new fresh things to do.

Thank you for all of your help!!
DD

Hi and welcome!

Have you/they ever done a firework cruise? Wishes is a personal favourite thoug they do them for illuminations too. You book over the phone and arrange to pick the boat up at one of the water resorts. We picked ours up from the poly. You get drinks and snacks on board and a skipper who drives you around the lake for an hour or so, and then gets a spot ready for wishes to start, they pipe the music in and you watch the fireworks there on the water. I think the cost is about $300 or so for up to 8 people. It's something unusual and nice Smile

Hey DD and welcome! What a great trip and great plans you have! I think it's also fantastic that you can do such a trip with the parents. Great memories.

Some ideas:

Disney Floral can set up an in-room surprise if that's of interest. You can check out what they offer here:
http://www.disneyflorist.com/

Have you thought about purchasing a PhototPass package for the trip and then getting every PhotoPass pic you can and have a great album made?

All my other suggestions, you already have Smile though I am sure this crowd will offer up a lot of great ideas!

Ever thought of Characters in Flight. It's a large helium balloon in DTD. It's a great ride. $16 or $18 per person for like 15 minutes. Goes up 400'.

For that wishes cruise you can book a pontoon boat or the Grand One which is a 45 ' Yacht.

Thanks so much for all of these great suggestions and the warm welcome! I think we're going to look into doing the Disney Florist. We love the idea of the wishes cruise, but they've done it before and are doing it again next year when we go back with my entire family...all 14 of us. I'm also not sure how they'd feel about the Characters in Flight and being that high up. We might try and book a dinner for the night we're in Animal Kingdom. I'm thinking, though, that we won't be able to get reservations this late in advance. If nothing else, the flowers will be a very nice gesture. Thanks again!

Oh Disney florist does so much more then just flowers, they can do pretty much anything, I've used them several times.

My very favorite Mr. Hub Disney floral surprise was that Christmas Tree with Minnie and Mickey "climbing" it. It was SO awesome. I keep thinking that I would love to give myself this on a Thanksgiving Trip, and then get to bring it home and enjoy it each year. Hey Mr. Hub - show us that awesome thing again!!

Cinderella's carriage is available for weddings only. Though occasionally they take it to the Magic Kingdom or other venues as a photo op. However there are regular style carriage rides that take place at the Port Orleans Resort and at Fort Wilderness.
