Attractions to Relax On: Hollywood Studios Edition

Since we last visited this subject, many things have changed at Disney's Hollywood Studios that have cut the attraction list down - but that doesn't mean that you can't find a spot to sit down and relax a bit while you keep on checking off your "to do" list. With the Park entering a phase of construction for the addition of the Star Wars and Toy Story Lands it's important to remember that there are still lots of things to do! Let's take a closer look at Disney's Hollywood Studios attractions to relax on.

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is still an exciting spot to sit down for 25 minutes with about 2000 of your closest friends in an outdoor theater. OK - Not my ideal spot to take a break in the middle of a hot day, but the stadium is covered and open for about 20 minutes prior to the show. Your total rest time here could be as much as 45 minutes sitting down in the shade. This certainly doesn't qualify for a quiet spot to rest, but it sure is fun.

As a classic movie buff The Great Movie Ride presented by Turner Classic Movies is by far my favorite spot to relax in Hollywood Studios. The queue can be long and you have to stand, but you do so mostly inside of the lovely, and air conditioned, Chinese Theater. While standing in line there is a plethora of movie memorabilia to look at and a pre-show film that offers insight into motion pictures. The ride itself lasts about 22 minutes, so if the queue is slow you could get almost an hour of temperature control at this spot.

Muppet*Vision 3D It's time to start the music - so be sure to stop by the Guests can enjoy a 12 minute pre-show before the main event, in less-crowded times of year the pre-show space is the perfect venue to grab a spot of floor and watch the fun on overhead monitors. Once let into the theater, comfy chairs await so that you can enjoy 15 minutes of 3D mayhem that includes Audio-Animatronics and special effects that literally bring the house down around you. I'm not sure how relaxing Muppet*Vision 3D is, but at least you get to sit down in the a/c for awhile.

The Voyage of the Little Mermaid brings a unique combination of animation, plush puppetry, special effects, and live action to a fun stage show perfect for the whole family. Follow Ariel's adventures as the show recreates selections from the Disney animated classic, the bright colors and puppets are especially attractive to younger guests. The show only lasts 17 minutes, and while it's not quite as spectacular as The Festival of the Lion King (over at Animal Kingdom) Voyage of the Little Mermaid offers a great spot to take a break, while enjoying some classic Disney entertainment.

Alas, this really isn't the park to take a nap or cool down in but there are ample spots to have a seat while being entertained by the cast members of Hollywood Studios. If you need some significant time in the a/c, I suggest creating a base camp for your family at a table in the ABC Commissary.

Do you have a great spot to get some rest here that I missed? Is there someplace else to cool off in the air conditioning I don't know about? Leave me a comment and let me know what attractions you relax on at Disney's Hollywood Studios!

Great Movie Ride is our favourite too, closely followed by Muppets.

It's not quite an attraction as such but we love to hide out in the Writers Stop - it's small but is overlooked by a lot of people so it's both quiet and cool and if you're lucky you can sit on the sofa and watch cartoons :D
