Disney News Round-up For Friday, September 28th, 2018

Let's get right to it! There were a couple of fun announcements made regarding Epcot's Holidays Around The World celebration, including an the announcement of four more celebrity narrators for Epcot's Candlelight Processional. runDisney revealed for the medals 2019 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna. New this year Oswald The Lucky Rabbit will appear on the 5K medal, making his runDisney debut. Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend takes place January 9th - 13th, 2019 with race distances for all skill levels, including Kids Races, a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon.

Over at Disney's Animal Kingdom a closure date has been given for Rafiki's Planet Watch. Character Meet and Greets will have their last day on September 29th, 2018 and, the entire land will be closed at the end of operations on October 20th, 2018. While the veterinary facilities will remain in use by the animal care teams, no news has been released regarding the future of this space. UPDATE 9/29/18: Word is that this attraction will be reopening in the Spring of 2019.

The biggest news this week was of course the announcement that Walt Disney World would be drastically changing how it prices Park Tickets. Beginning October 16th, 2018 the new date-based pricing will launch with a new website interface at DisneyWorld.com.

And finally, You can kick off your day at the Magic Kingdom with a newly expanded Early Morning Magic event. Now guests who want to get a jump on the crowds will be able to enjoy twice as many attractions as before, as well as enjoy a special breakfast at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. Happening Tuesdays and Sundays the limited hard ticket event needs to be purchased on top of your regular Magic Kingdom admission, and will cost $79 for adults.
