Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend
Who says fairytales don't come true? They sure do during Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend! Where else do you get to run through Cinderella's Castle, meet your favorite princes and princesses, and get a "crown" for finishing?!
As seen on the runDisney website, "the Disney Princesses are the inspiration for the weekend's events and will focus on the attributes every princess possesses: commitment, courage, determination, fantasy, perseverance, and strength." Not only are these the attribute of the Disney Princesses, but they also live within all of us Disney runners.
The 5th Annual Princess Half Marathon will be taking place on February, 24, 2013. The race begins just outside of Epcot, takes runners down World Drive and into the Magic Kingdom. Along the way Disney provides great entertainment and photo ops, including some great ones with the the Princes of course!
The real magic happens when you enter the Magic Kingdom and make that turn down Main Street USA. It is quite amazing to see the crowds of people cheering you on with the castle as the backdrop. After running through Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, you finally get to make that journey through the castle and all of the hard work and sweat seems worth it.
Actually when you cross the finish line and get that gorgeous golden medal, then it really was all worth it.
Also taking place that weekend are the Disney Royal Family 5K through Epcot, the runDisney Kids Races and the always fun Fit for a Princess Expo. Registration opened yesterday for all of the events on Princess Half Marathon weekend and I signed up first thing! I have a soft spot for this race as is was my first ever half marathon, so I have to run it again. You can read my full recap of the 2012 Princess Half Marathon over on Running at Disney. Hope to see you there next year!
