Guardians Of The Galaxy Opens August 1st

As we all know, coming to theaters on August 1st is the next big installment of the Marvel experience that many of us are way too excited for. We here at WDW for Grown-ups have followed this new series from its early beginnings and now after months of stills, sneak peeks and Marvel Universe history, we find ourselves only a couple weeks away from opening day. The Guardians of the Galaxy is Marvel's (and Disney's) first real move into the space epic/superhero genre. From Marvel entertainment themselves, Guardians of the Galaxy starts out focusing on our unlikely hero Peter Quill, but let's let them tell it in their own words:

Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" finds space adventurer Peter Quill the object of a bounty hunt after stealing an orb coveted by a treacherous villain, but when Quill discovers the power it holds, he must find a way to rally the quartet of ragtag rivals hot on his trail to save the universe.

Peter Quill, also calling himself 'Starlord', meets up with the most unlikely group of individuals that have been seen in the Marvel movie-verse. This group includes the alien Gamora, who is as beautiful as she is deadly (played by Zoe Saldana), Rocket, the adorable and violent gun-toting raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), the angry and vengeance seeking Drax the Destroyer (by WWE wrestling star Dave Bautista) and Groot, the small vocabularied but massive in size tree/plant being (voice by Vin Diesel). These five (basically criminals) heroes must band together and save the universe or the galaxy from Ronan the Accuser and the equally deadly and mysterious Nebula.

Over the months, we have showcased every preview of this exciting new group of heroes but on July 9th, Marvel released the first extended trailer giving us a much more impressive look at each of the heroes involved in this promising space epic.
