Happily Ever After: Kat's Land and Sea Disneymoon: UPDATED: Day 1 Posted!

The trip we've been planning for over a year now is coming to fruition--eek! I'm getting married in a little over a month (May 4th!--trying to remind myself to breathe and not freak out!) and the day after we're leaving for our dream Disneymoon! It'll be my husband's very first Disney trip and my first "grown-up" (read: without my parents/family) trip, so I'm incredibly excited.

Saturday May 4th: The big wedding day, in my hometown in Michigan!! Ceremony is at 1, we leave the reception around 5, stop at home to change and get our stuff, then drive to Detroit (about 3 hours, hope to arrive by 9) where we're staying in a hotel my parents generously gifted us near the airport.

Sunday May 5th: Another exhausting day (luckily, we're not easily exhausted people, plus as soon as we get to Orlando we plan to take the parks, etc. easy). Flight leaves Detroit at 7:45 AM; in Orlando by 10:20. Magical Express to Port Orleans Riverside, check-in, drop off our bags, then bus to Epcot. 1:45 Akershus lunch reservation! Spend the rest of the day in Epcot and exploring the Flower & Garden festival.

Monday May 6th: Magic Kingdom! 7:25 PM ADR at Be Our Guest.

Tuesday May 7th: Animal Kingdom. Leave in early or mid-afternoon (this is really a half day park for me and we want the afternoon to relax, swim in the pool, hot tub, etc.) 6:15 PM ADR at Boatwright's.

Wednesday, May 8th: Day at my favorite park, DHS! 4:50 ADR (Fantasmic!) package at Mama Melrose's. Stay for Fantasmic.

Thursday, May 9th-Sunday morning, May 12th-3-night Bahamas cruise on the Disney Dream: and celebrating my birthday in Castaway Cay on the 11th, too! Smile No real plans for the cruise--we don't even plan on getting off the boat at Nassau, just being very relaxed and enjoying our honeymoon! We're taking Disney transfers from POR to the port.

Sunday, May 12th--Last day in Orlando, staying at a hotel again my mom gifted us near the Orlando airport (taking transfer back to airport, then free hotel-run shuttle to hotel). Relax, sleep, etc.

Monday, May 13th--Return home (and start the thank-you card madness, haha!). Leave Orlando at 2:00 PM; return to Detroit at 4:41; drive home.

I absolutely can't wait...is it May 5th yet? Wink

Sounds like a fab trip! We didn't get off the ship in Nassau either, we got passes for the rainforest room at the spa for that day, was very romantic Smile

Ooh, we considered getting passes for the rainforest room, too: are they worth it?

Oh yes, really was so relaxing and romantic, there were very few others using it so we almost had it to ourselves, it felt like being in a spa that costs lots but for $16 each! I've written about it in my trip report Sy's 30th, I put a few pictures up too Smile also please please do palo, hubby says it was the best meal he has ever eaten! Xxxx

I'm going to go find your trip report and look at that section! I definitely plan on doing it now...did you get passes in advance or just buy them when you were there? And we weren't going to do Palo because my husband is a picky eater...I didn't think there'd be enough food for him, and it would mean we'd have to miss out on one of the other 3 dining rooms since it's only a 3-night. Maybe in the future though. Smile

I thought so! The Dream has lovely co-ed areas in the rainforest room. Awesome two person jacuzzi's that you sort of lay in and the tile lounge chairs both have a great view (depending on if there's another ship parked next to you or not in Nassau). I thought that the day pass was pretty reasonable if you like just laying around and relaxing in that sort of environment. I loved it. If you're a "go go go get in more adventure" type of person though, maybe not so much.

I am one of the pickiest eaters you have ever met, believe me Wink I've never eaten at a signature in disney as there's nothing on any menu that I will eat, but I had the best meal in palo. Get him to have a look at the menu and see if there would be anything he would try Smile we did palo the night we were scheduled to eat in royal palace and then went to royal palace for lunch one day instead so we didn't miss out Smile

I couldn't book the day pass in advance as I had booked the cruise in British pounds and not dollars (not sure how true this was, the person on the phone sounded very uninterested) so I booked onboard the day we set sail. I also bought some sugar scrubs but wasn't too bothered about them, read my tr if you want to know how I ended up with them Wink

I agree that you should at least give the menu another look. The food is Northern Italian, so it's not really over the top on the adventure scale. Though I like big flavors, I can be pretty picky. (I don't eat seafood, game, lamb or veal, no organ meats, and I don't like any sorts of mushrooms, squash, eggplant or wilted greens. I also don't do blue cheese.)

None the less, Palo just might be my favorite Disney restaurant of all.

In addition to pigging out on bread and cheeses, I had the white bean soup,

Beef Ravioli
Chianti Braised Beef Ravioli tossed in a rich red wine reduction with oven-roasted carrots and celery

and the Baked Chicken Breast

Kristen I had the chicken (I dumped the veggie thing that came on top on hubby's plate haha) I had the mushroom starter and hubs had the soup, I hate soup but o.m.g. That was THE best soup I have ever tasted! (Obviously I had to test it Wink ) I want to go back just to I can order it!

I think that chicken may have been the best thing I ate overall on the ship. It was so delicious!

Alright, you've totally convinced me that I need to go to Palo...I'll probably use Robyn's idea and have lunch in Royal Palace and dinner there, if it works out. I looked at the menu and it looks like my fiance could find plenty of things to eat! Thanks for the help!!

We got Mickey Mail today!! yay yay In addition to the regular travel documents, our awesome travel agent sent us some nice little specials of his own--a really nice travel scrapbook, postcards (pre-stamped, too!), laminated maps and travel tips, and a dry erase board for our shiproom door that he wrote "Just Married" on! It was an unexpected surprise and with every single way our travel agent has been so awesome so far, I'm glad I went with him!

2 1/2 weeks!!!!
