How is the new GAC system working?

So today I read that disney have had a law suit filed against them for the changes to the GAC pass.

Now as some of you may know I am disabled, I have a chronic kidney disease, which means my kidney crystallises, it's extremely rare and I have had one near death experience from it, which was after a wdw trip 8 years ago.

Part of my treatment is drinking 4-5 litres of fluid a day, not spending too much time in the heat, and resting a lot.
Another thing I will point out is that I in no way appear to be disabled, I am in crippling pain 24/7 but with pain killers and a smile I get by.

We were given a GAC on our last trip which was great for us, as because of my illness I am up at 6 am everyday it mean we could get too the parks early and leave again at the hottest part of the day and return in the cool evening. I didn't have to rush too much and we could get free water with out funny looks.

Now I have t tried the new system at all, but how is it working out for people? I know it's the same as at universal which I thought worked well as we could get a return ride and go and sit indoors, drink water and use the restroom before returning to ride.

I want to make it really clear that the reason why I can wait in a 30 min plus line is because I have a full bladder all the time and use a restroom once an hour, so I don't mind waiting but I physically can't be away from a restroom for that long, I could go in to kidney failure on the spot.

I used it for the first time in march and yes, it's very like universal. For me, who has similar issues to you (though not bladder, the other toilet rushing :-/ ) it worked perfectly. I actually find it fairer than the old system and I'm more than happy to wait my turn as long as I don't have to physically be 'in' the queue.

Hi Robyn, that's my thoughts exactly, I'm happy to wait and even in the old system I never had an 'advantage' cause I have to drink, sit down and restroom between every ride, it does put me to the same advantage as healthy people though.

If you use it along with the fastpass plus it can be good too, say a ride has a huge wait you can get a return time, in the mean time you can rude a fastpass ride, get a drink, rest and then it will be time for that first ride. Also the times don't expire, so say you get a return time of 12pm, but you are watching a show and having lunch, you can go back anytime that day after that time Smile

I was very nervous before our trip and I had kind of resigned myself that if they weren't now able to help me (I never just expect as some do!) that at least with the fast passes I could ride 3 rides per day and see parades and shows etc. so it wouldn't be a waste, I would still have an amazing time. Smile (also if you still have it, take your old pass so they can see it, I always do that)

I've used the new GAC 3 or 4 times now and I think it is a great system. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, so much like you, I am in severe, crippling pain 24/7, but you can't tell by looking at me. I was worried about people making comments when we(DH and I) used the card, but the way the system is set up, no one even knows you are using a GAC card. They just think you have a fast pass+. I never wanted to go ahead of anyone in line, so I think it's very fair that I get a return time and have to wait just like everyone else. But it is wonderful to wait sitting down in a shaded area, because I can't stand or be in the sun too long either. I think you will be very happy with the new system!!!

Its been working great except for the autism community that hates the system.

FYI, the DAS card now lasts for 60 days, instead of the previous 14 days. After the 60 days, bring your previous card with you to guest services to get a new one. This is so nice because now I can get several visits out of one card!
