New to this site.....

Hi all! Nice to meet you! My name is Jill, and I'm from Pennsylvania. Although I didn't start travelling to Disney till after I graduated from High School many moons ago...I have come to LOVE the World! As a former Travel Agent I was lucky to travel to Orlando at least once a year, maybe twice. I even made a trek out to Disneyland for their 40th Anniversary. I'm still waiting on the day to be able to travel "across the pond" to both Paris and Tokyo, we'll see....one day. My family thinks I'm crazy going back every year. Don't get me wrong...growing up, my family and I travelled to other places throughout the US. I've been to as far west as Hawaii and as far north as Canada, My family and I all travelled cross-country one summer in a Chevy Citation, with no A/C...we talk about that trip almost every time we get together. BUT - Disney is still my home-away-from-home.

My favorite resort is Wilderness Lodge...but, in order to travel as many times as I do....I make my 2nd home...POP CENTURY. Looking forward to spending time at Art of Animation one day as well. Let's see...my favorite park???...that's a toughie...I guess it depends on my mood. If I had to choose, I'd probably go with the Magic Kingdom...ESPECIALLY during the Christmas holidays. I've visited Disney World many times throughout the year, but my hands-down favorite time to go is Thanksgiving weekend. I can't seem to get enough of the decorations/lights and MVMCP!

I have many favorite rides/shows...Buzz Lightyear, IASW, HM, PotC, Thunder Mountain Railroad (new found love of that one since my friend pulled me on 2 years ago), Toy Story Mania, Little Mermaid, the drawing class (can't think of the name)...Soarin', Test Track. Call me silly, but I make it priority to go on each of the parks "signature" ride every visit....MK's = Train, DHS = Great Movie Ride, EPCOT = Spaceship Earth and AK's = Tree of Life...and of course we can't leave out Downtown Disney!

I really enjoy travelling with a "buddy"...especially newbies....just something about the look they have when they see the Castle for the 1st time. Just last year I went on my own...met up with famliy...but it still wasn't the same. A Disney World vacation really begins when you land at the MCO airport...and take that 1st monorail ride to Magical Express.

I can't wait to get to know this website more...looking forward to making new friends and reading all of your tips/thoughts and trip reports!

See ya real soon!!! ~ Jill

Welcome to another Pennsylvanian! I'm in South Central PA, not too far from Hersheypark - it's not Disney, but it helps between Disney trips.

And if you're a Disneyholic like the rest of us, you will love it here.

Wow! Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! As I said before...I'm really looking forward to finding my way around your website....and also making new friends. For those of you that asked....I am from Allentown PA....home of the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs (for those of you who may follow minor league baseball).

Although I don't have anything booked yet, I'm currently planning a trip for this fall - Thanksgiving weekend to be exact...just trying to be patient for some special deals to be announced.

Please be patient with me as I wander through your website....hoping to have a "ticker" up soon.

Thanks again everyone!!!

I've driven through Allentown two or three times going to the casino in Bethlehem. Can't make a habit of it, though, gotta save my money for Disney trips.

Sorry for the cliche'....I guess it's a small world after all???

@ crazycatperson....as close as I am, I've never been to the casino. Guess I'd rather just save my money and use it towards a Disney trip. My luck isn't that great to walk out of there with more money than I'd go in with (haha).

@ Kris1971...I've travelled thru (or near) Red Hill on my way down Rt 100 to my sisters house. Years ago, my friends and I would travel to Pennsburg for ice cream. We liked our road trips....and Rosenberger's too!!! biggrin

I hope once I find my way thru this website....I find alot of tips/hints/tricks everyone is willing to share.

Wishing everyone travelling.....a safe and fun trip to the "world" !!!

I'm not a regular gambler by any means, and on the rare occasion when I indulge I play cheap, as in, only double-digit losses. It's fun every now and then, though, even though I rarely walk out with more cash than I had going in. I'm happy if I just break even.

I highly recommend Emeril's burger joint inside the casino, though. Don't bother with the slots/games, just enjoy some of the best darn burgers I've ever had the pleasure of eating. And make sure you go to Emeril's BURGER joint. He has another restaurant there as well.

Hey, Jill, and Welcome!

We're so glad to have you!

What are the crowd levels like during Thanksgiving? I've always wanted to try it, but have been too frightened of the crowd levels to attempt it!

Okay, so what's this "yins" thing you PA folk are talking about? Smile

Its Western Pennsylvanian for you all just like the southern y'all. But if your a "Yinzer" it goes even deeper. If you have ever met a Pittsburgh Steeler fan you will understand. Live, breath, eat and bleed Black and Gold. Just like all of us who love Disney. All Disney all the time. laugh

Hi Nancy D!

I normally fly down to Disney the day after Thanksgiving - Black Friday.....but usually wait till Saturday afternoon to hit any of the parks - that seems to be when everyone that's been down for the week heads home. MVMCP is a MUST-DO for me -which usually happens Sunday, so I'll hang out at the hotel pool or go shopping at Downtown Disney or the outlets before heading over to the party. By Monday, the crowds are long gone...and the lines for the rides are usually 5-10 minutes max.

2 years ago when a girlfriend and I went down...we were able to get onto Toy Story Mania 4 times in one day - we went on 1st thing when we got to the park, grabbed fast passes for later in the day. We left the park for dinner reservations, then went back for Extra Magic Hours...which allowed us to get on twice that night. I'd say we had a very successful day. clapping

Oh, and Disney really knows how to decorate for Christmas! The parks and hotels are all decked out, so we try to travel around just to look at the decorations as well.

I've also gone down mid-December and crowds were pretty light at that time as well. I think a majority of people going to WDW wait till closer to Christmas/New Years to go - when the crowds are HUGE (been there - won't go back at that time).

I hope this information helps you with a decision.

BTW- I've never heard the term "yins" before - must be something said on the western part of the state??? biggrin

~ Jill

OOH! So have you ever tried Black Friday at the outlets? I wonder what that's like? That puts a whole new spin on it for me (*wheels turning*)!! That might make TWO good reasons to go down during that time! Smile

That's a great plan, and I seriously might have to consider that for next time. Thanks so much for the info!

So, Pirate Girl, would these be correct sentences: "How are yins doing?" or "So good to see yins!" (I want to amaze and astound the next Western Pennsylvanian I meet!) Smile
