To Package..or not?

Ok, here is my conundrum.

I have booking packages for so long that I kind of forgot that you don't really HAVE to book the packages. We've decided to not do a Dining Plan this trip (unless they become free) because with a picky 2 year old it just makes more sense to eat as we go. We've also shortened our trip by a few days because we decided to add a beach trip on to the end of the summer with some family.

Today is occurred to me to mess around on disneyworld.com and price out our options for tickets and the room. I found that booking them separately (room and tickets..plus taxes and all that) is cheaper than booking a package. Is it just because we are booking separate and forgoing the "ease' of the package? It's not significantly cheaper but about $75 dollars cheaper. If a room only discount comes along for the end of May I will be happy...so my question is...it's been so long is there any reason to choose the package over room only & purchasing tickets separately?

Go cheap... no difference whether its a package or not. If you can go cheaper on not bundling... go for it.

Lol, I guess I just couldn't remember if the package had someone extra that I was forgetting about that might be worth the $75 dollars. I couldn't think of what on earth that would be but it has been awhile since I've been to the world.

Go with the cheap route! I've booked both ways and there was no difference (package in 2010 and non-package in 2011).

I think that's the way we are going unless free dining comes around! The best news is that the deposit is cheaper..woot!

I agree with everyone re: go cheaper. I've never packaged things before, there's not usually an sort of bonus for us to do that. Now that we're DVC there is no package and it's just as easy to travel without it. The worst thing is that my room key and park tickets are two different cards. Not really a big deal.

That is the one thing that really bothers me now. Before with an Annual Pass it was a completely different looking card, and now it looks the same as your room key. It can get really confusing.

Our annual pass looks nothing like the room keys. The annual pass is made of a very tough material and is stronger then a regular room (credit card) type key.

We've always booked seperately. We've also found it cheaper to not use the online booking but to call the WDW line. We always end up with getting some discount off our room or tickets when we've called.

Disney isn't cheap. Anything you can do to save money is worth it!

True!

Very excited because yesterday Dave got an email with a PROMO code for our month for booking the room only. That NEVER happens. I haven't called yet to check on the price but I'm pretty pumped about that.
