Robynprincess and CCP at WDW!!!

OMG this is so exciting!

I mentioned elsewhere that my annual pass (which expires in early April) was begging me to go to WDW one last time, and I finally gave in to the nagging and booked a solo trip in late February/early March, a long weekend starting upon my arrival in Orlando before 9 a.m. Friday the 27th and ending the following Tuesday afternoon. I booked All-Star Sports to keep everything on the cheap and selected my flight times for the same reason (staying at an airport hotel in Baltimore the Thursday night before so I can take that before-dawn flight to MCO). In response to my happy post about this last trip on my AP, Robyn joked about crashing my weekend.

Well, did I need any more info? No! If she was willing to fly across the Atlantic to join my vacation, I was happy to have her along! We've been PMing and texting back and forth hoping to make it work, AND IT DID!

Now, I will let Robyn tell you what she had to do to make it work.

I'll mention that to make the trip across the pond worth the bother, Robyn has added three hotel nights of her own, Thursday the 26th, while I'll be trying to get to bed early at that airport hotel in Baltimore so I can make that before-dawn flight, and Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the end of the trip. She's invited me to change my return flight and stay an extra night or two, and I am very tempted. She's being very evil and trying to talk me into it. She'd appreciate your help, I'm sure....

I'm sorry - it's taking convincing to have you stay longer on a girls trip to WDW?!?!

Come on now! Not only is that brilliant idea, but it would just be so rude to say no! laugh

Oh that is so exciting! You are making me want to go to WDW so much!

(I wasn't sure where to post this info but my mum and Dad will be there at the same time. They fly on 28th Feb for 11 nights at POFQ. They had such a good time when we had our big family trip in July/August last year that the week we got back they booked to go again - just the two of them.
I am so excited for them and of course a little bit jealous as I have been doing their ADRs and FP+)

Anyway, back on track Robyn and Jan, I think it is very exciting to go to Disney with someone different as you always discover new things or new ways of experiencing familiar things. Do you have any definate must-dos/plans? I am assuming you got last minute flights, Robyn, how did you find this? How does Si feel about you heading off without him? Tell all.

How could I not stay? I'd be kicking myself Tuesday when I had to catch the Tragical Express and Robyn still had two days to go!

Sooooo as Jan said, I joked about gate-crashing her trip and before I knew it I had a pm saying 'come along!'. I seriously thought about it as like Jan, I had the damned AP burning a hole in my pocket. Plus I also had an $800 American Airlines voucher that was given to me by a friend, she wasn't going to use it before the time ran out so she gave it to me which was so very kind. Well on calling AA they said that it would take too long to process the voucher so I sadly had to say goodbye to that lovely offer from Jan...

Well this Monday I was talking to a friend who lives in Orlando and told her about the offer from Jan and the problems with AA, she said I should call up again and see if I got someone else and if their answer would be different... And whaddyaknow? They said they WOULD be able to process it if I could make it to the airport for them to process the voucher there (rather than send it away). yay yay

I refused to get excited until I had that ticket hot in my hand so I was ready and raring to go to the airport Tuesday, unfortunately things had to get done in the morning and Sy had some meetings (I wanted him to take me as the parking in the airport is CRAZY, like $10 per half hour, that way he could circle the airport while I was inside) and when we went to leave I checked and the ticketing desk closed at 4:30pm, this was at 4pm and we live about 45 mins drive away. GAHHHHHHHH!!! So Tuesday, still no ticket. So still not allowed to get excited.

Wednesday arrives, I am up and out of bed in record time, and the first stop today was... AIRPORT. I thought to myself, oh I better take my passport just in case they want to see it... Cue me not being able to find it, turning the house upside-down and then having heart palpitations. I CAN'T GO WITHOUT A PASSPORT!!!! Ahhhhh!!!! But then I remembered, the last time I had my passport was when I went to France for the day with my parents... Sy's passport was still here so I had a fairly strong feeling it would be at their house... Only they were both out so they couldn't check for me. So off we set to theirs, a 20 minute journey turned into a 35 min journey due to roadworks and a road closure and we arrived at theirs. I went straight to where they keep the passports and PHEW! It was there! Thank goodness for that!!

Quick cuddle with the pooches and we were back on the road again, heading for London Heathrow. We were there in no time and with no more setbacks thankfully. Sy dropped me at terminal 3 and circled twice before just sitting in the drop off area even though you're not meant to Wink

Inside there was no queue however it was a bit of a headache getting the voucher used. For some reason they took some of the taxes off of my flight so I should have had to pay $50 on top of the voucher but instead only had to pay $10, I didn't ask why, I just paid and ran hehe.

Ticket in hand I text Jan and then posted on FB to make everyone envious haha.

So the flight details, I'm flying direct with BA (on a codeshare as AA don't fly direct), leaving here at about 11:30am and arriving in Orlando at 4:30pm local time. By the time I get the ME and get some food I'm gonna be wiped out and I know it so I'll just crash and wake up super early no doubt lol.

Flight home is the 5th at 6:30pm arriving in London at 7:30am the next morning.

The reason I decided to get there the night before Jan was, her flight gets in super early on the 27th but there is only 1 BA flight per day at this time of year so i'd miss her all day on the 27th, plus i'm always like a zombie on the first night, shattered from all the travelling, by the time I get some food in me i'm pretty much fit for nothing.

the hotel is now booked, 1 night on the 26th and then 2 nights (3rd & 4th). Staying in All Star Sports (I went to type just the first letters in there but changed my mind, see if you can work out why, teehee). I did look at dvc for those last nights but it would have to be SSR, plus we are *really* short on points, I got the hotel for about $100 per night so I decided to do that instead and save the points for when Sy can share them too.

To be clear, Jan did offer for Sy to come too (as long as PJs were worn in bed hahahahahahahaha) but he has no holiday time left sadly, so he will be cat sitting and missing me lots Wink

Sy doesn't mind too much, he's envious sure but he hasn't got the time off. He's set me a list of things I have to do, go get a pic with Baymax, get him a baymax magic band (can you guess his new favourite Disney film?) and get him a cupcake on my last day and bring it home for him.

Monday evening we were busy making plans, Jan was changing up a few fastpasses and adding me to them and I was making an ADR for afternoon tea Laughing out loud and Jan made one for Sanaa Laughing out loud we have been messaging talking about what to do and where to eat, sleepy hollow is already on the list for the chicken waffle.... I also want a funnel cake at some point (I hate that we don't get these in the UK!!)

And now I've been busy adding two additional days' FastPasses, not to mention rearranging what would've been my departure day (Tuesday the 3rd). Here is the itinerary:

Thursday, February 26: Robyn flies from the UK to Orlando, checks into All Star Sports, and crashes while I drive to Baltimore and try to get to sleep at 8:00 pm so I can get up before 4:00 am for my predawn flight.

Friday, February 27: I arrive in Orlando before 9:00 am. We're hoping AS Sports (I'm not doing all initials either, Robyn) will let us have one room for all 7 nights even though it's different reservations, but if not, we'll leave bags with bell services and get ourselves to DHS. Epcot has EEMH that night, so perhaps we'll end up there before the day is done. No ADRs this day. FPs are Toy Story Mania, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and the Frozen sing-along.

Saturday, February 28: Animal Kingdom! FastPasses are Kilimanjaro Safari, DINOSAUR, and Festival of the Lion King. Sanaa ADR for lunch. AK is open till 8:00 pm this day. MK has EEMH till 3:00 am, so perhaps we'll stop by there if we're up for it, although I'm sure we won't be up that late.

Sunday, March 1: Back to DHS for more Toy Story Mania! FPs for that and also MuppetVision and the Indiana Jones stunt show. No ADRs. DHS has EEMH till 10:00 this night, although park hopping midday is not out of the question.

Monday, March 2: Magic Kingdom! FPs for Jungle Cruise, Splash Mountain, and Peter Pan's Flight. Hoping to add a fourth FP for Buzz Lightyear since that attraction will be closed for refurbishment later in the week. ADR for tea at the Grand Floridian. No plans to park hop, but you never know for sure what we'll feel like doing on the day itself.

Tuesday, March 3: This would've been my departure day with a visit to Epcot, but now that I've extended my stay we'll do DHS yet again because I MUST get that TSM kitty. FPs are TSM along with Lights! Motors! Action! and Muppets again (just because of limited attractions at DHS and the tiered FP system there). These FPs aren't till mid to late afternoon, so we'll probably start and possibly end the day at another park, perhaps Epcot. No ADRs this day.

Wednesday, March 4: Back to the Magic Kingdom. FPs were limited since the trip is so soon. I got afternoon FPs for Enchanted Tales with Belle and Meet Cinderella and Rapunzel for both of us. Robyn will be doing 7DMT by her lonesome while I visit It's a Small World because 7DMT looks queasifying to me. Not sure what else we might do this day, probably some time at Epcot to see the start of the Flower and Garden Festival and some grazing at the outdoor kitchens. Again, no ADRs.

Thursday, March 5: Departure day, boo! Although I shouldn't complain since it's two days later than I was going to depart! After checking out we'll spend as much time as possible at Epcot, with FPs at Spaceship Earth, Test Track, and Journey into Imagination and grazing at F&G Outdoor Kitchens. We'll probably have to leave around 1:00 pm to get back to AS Sports for the ME back to the airport. Even though our flight times are different, we'll ask to take the ME together and then split up at the airport.

Although we don't have a FP, I think Robyn will talk me into doing Soarin' for the first time ever. (And then perhaps I will need to hitch a ride in her ECV if it makes me sick.) We've also talked about Downtown Disney and Wolfgang Puck Express. And friends of hers, Carrie and Mark, will join us at some point during the week.

We'll take photos all day long and post them on the fly (at least I will, not sure whether Robyn can do that with her UK phone service). You'll have a photo trip report going long before we write anything. Can't wait to see what, if anything, is left of the DHS sorcerer's hat - perhaps just security walls with a little rubble barely visible above?

Robyn has other friends besides Mark and Carrie in Florida, also, so there will be some meet-ups, and perhaps Robyn will wander off with them a time or two while I cruise a park alone or (more likely) stay in the hotel room and get a little work done. I'd always planned to bring a laptop and get some work done, but now that I've added two days working is pretty much mandatory. Don't worry, though, I'll keep it to a minimum.

One week till Robyn boards a flight to Orlando and I drive to Baltimore ahead of my early morning flight. One week!

yay

LOL if I really need to work, I'll send you off with your friends. But I'm not planning on doing hours and hours when I'm at WDW. This is not a working vacation, it's a vacation with a little bit of work.

The long-range forecast hints at a warm-up, unfortunately along with some rain. I'll hope the warmth stays but the rain wanders farther north or south.

Robyn quick thought can you do airline checkin at the resort? Even though it is BA your ticket is with AA and therefore you should be able to do it.

Did you have any issues with this Robyn? I was up at 4am to make a reservation for one of my clients for tomorrow and had no problems, but I've heard from a lot of others it was kind of a mess this morning.

Well I had no issue but mainly cause I woke up at 8am UK time and although it wasn't due to go live till 11am UK time, it was already up though I found out via facebook (gotta love facebook, who needs news articles or weather reports lol) and so I went on and got it no problem Smile
