Disney buses

I was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them. I have been to Disney many times and this was a first. Last year when I went to Disney in October with my husband (which is a big thing as he doesn't feel about Disney like I do) and another couple I found the buses freezing (and it wasn't just me). According to the bus driver I said something to he said that it is all controlled by some main something or other. Well because of it I got sick. Here we are in October when it would get to mid 80's and the nights were down to high 70's so for the first couple of days no one wanted to tie sweatshirts around their waist because you didn't need them. But by the 3 day we all had sweatshirts and it wasn't just us...when we looked at everyone else on the bus the majority had sweaters/jackets or sweatshirts with them. So my question is does anyone know why Disney does that? Really I would think that Disney would save a lot of money if they kept their buses at 70 and not 60. I don't know about anyone else but I don't keep my house that cold in the summer...air conditioner is set for 70 and it is very comfortable.
I was just wondering if anyone else had this issue?

When I was there in November, the buses seemed colder than prior years.

I've noticed the busses are cold, but mostly by knowing that if I'm comfortable, everyone else is probably cold. I'm always hot. But then again, I'll go outside in 40 degree weather without a coat on.

I find the buses reeeeeeeeaaaaaaally cold

However the back row on the buses has some sort of magical heat that comes from there so I try as best I can to beat everyone to the back!!!!

I noticed the same thing last year. I don't ever remember the buses being as cold as they were last trip. It was September and very hot out so I thought maybe that was why the buses felt so cold. At night I started bringing a light sweater with me for the bus ride.

Thanks for all the replies. And am so glad to hear it isn't just me that seemed the buses were really cold. I wish Disney would go back to they way there were as they were always comfortable. I know I did contact Disney about this but guess what I got no response. Sad
I really don't want to get sick again in May. So I have my fingers and toes crossed.

The rear seat is where the motor is located on those buses so you get some residual engine heat in that area.

I too am way more comfortable at 70 degrees, I think most people are. Idk why they would keep them around 60. 60 is wayyy too cold for a bus!

I was being kind when I said 60. Am sure it was under 60 and I wasn't alone in that thought. I can't imagine how much it is costing Disney to keep them that cold. I know I get so excited to go to Disney and I was so looking forward to the Wine and Food Festival and Mickeys Not So Scary (and dressing up) and to be so sick that I really couldn't enjoy either...just isn't right.

I would be happier with them being colder as it encourages my DW to hold me tighter

Will I understand that thought but even with a sweatshirt and him hanging to me I was still freezing. He normal does anyway so not so cold is better for me.

I've noticed the buses are what I'd call cool, but it never bothered me. But I'm like Phill; I'll take a walk in 40-ish weather with just a light jacket on. I've shoveled snow in colder temps with no coat at all (because shoveling warms me up). And we keep the thermostat in our house at 64 degrees in the winter, and down to 62 overnight.

The buses are FREEZING!!!! So much so that getting off the bus into 60 degrees feels warm.

My guess is that people get really irritated when they get hot and sweaty. Sometimes those buses get crowded. So maybe they keep it cool so that we all stay settled down?? yay I'm only half kidding. I agree though, a happy medium would be nice.

Yes you are so right....they are cool or cold they are freezing. That is so stupid. Why can't they go back to the way they use to be. I little cool but nothing like this. Makes me nervous for my May trip. Don't want to get sick again!

(However, getting sick because you're cold is a myth. Close contact with someone with a cold or flu virus is what makes you sick. Temperature has nothing to do with it.)

Just to clarify, I didn't have a cold. It upset my tummy problems being that cold. That being said I had a runny nose all the next day and a headache all night

I would convert me room into an ice room if Dh would allow it. It's hard for me to breath in the warmer temps so I like the chill when I can find it. I've sadly never gotten chilled on a Disney bus so that might be a nice change. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to keep us all comfy. The bus has to have the doors open for a good 15 min and in most cases will only have them closed for 30 min. I have felt like a baked potato many a time on a Disney bus standing the 15 min ride at the end of the night. But it seems to be part of the experience. I travel fall winter so tend to have wind breaker with me on the off chance DH might need it lol.

^^ True.

Personally, I like the buses cold. Nothing feels better to me than, after walking miles in the heat, to get on a WDW bus that is cold and feeling that instant relief and feeling so refreshed when you get to your destination. A warm, sweaty bus is what I detest. A nice cold beer does the trick too! Beer = awesome

Well it may be a myth but let me tell you I know me (as am 65) and whenever I get a chill and I can't warm up am done. My husband can get colds and the flu and I never catch it from him. So for me it is when I catch that chill...that always gets me sick. Every time!

I do notice the buses are cool when it is warm/hot and sunny out. But I also noticed on our trip this past January that the heat was on when it was cooler and rainy. I would expect they are trying to keep the temperature in line with what the majority of guests would enjoy. I wouldn't say it's as cool as 60F, maybe 65F? But when it's 80's and 90's outside, I know 70F would feel cool, maybe even cold since the A/C running would also remove the humidity. That being said, I would always rather be cool/cold than warm and will take a light sweater if necessary.

Yes - and no. Can you get a cold or flu from being chilled? No, absolutely not.

HOWEVER - there are several medical conditions that are highly aggravated by thermal conditions. Depending on the definition of "sick" being used cold can very much make one sick.

I read online that a rapid change in temperature won't actually make you sick, but the body is strained to re-adapt to changing temps and you'll be more susceptible to germs.

If you don't feel like carting a sweater around all day, what about a pretty pashmina? I love them, and very seldom wear jackets. When it's cold, I wrap it around my shoulders, when it's cool, it's around my neck, and when I'm hot, it's tied onto my bag in a pretty bow. I have light silk ones, and heavier fuzzy ones I use in the spring and fall.

Wow Princess Cupcake what a greet idea...now I'm going to add that to my packing list. Of course now I have to go and buy a couple first. But once again thanks for the wonderful idea.
