I did see this. The first report I read said that DVC resorts won't be affected. I am still curious about that though. Because of my trip in Sept/Oct.

I just called Disney to get confirmation or denial on this. What I was told is that it's happening in all resorts & only the dorm sized fridges are affected & is due to a recall. People who have medical need for a fridge get priority for the rooms that still have them & that right now they're pulling fridges out of unoccupied rooms. I'm ASSUMING that as a room becomes empty that the fridge will be pulled if it's affected by the recall.

Yes, Traci just wrote up a story for us.

We're hearing that resort rooms that will not be affected by this are DVC rooms, cabins at Fort Wilderness, and family suites at The Art of Animation and All-Star Music resorts.

To me this sounds more like rumor than fact. The only way I can see this happening is if there was a recall on the models Disney puts in the rooms & they had to be removed immediately for safety reasons. Disney knows guests rely on the fridges not only to store food but medications as well. If Disney didn't realize guests rely on the fridges bell services would not have the ability to hold refrigerated & frozen food.

well my friend is dealing DIRECT with disney, her info is coming from them. so i highly doubt this will be anything other than fact.

i believe the 1 and 2 bed DVC are okay but the studios are iffy at the moment. shes asked specifcally about the studios but they said they will have no more info for her until tomorrow morning Sad can i feel fridge share coming on.....?

from my friend; the fridge freezers are not affected, only the mini fridges, there is a defect in one of the models used across Land, World and Aulani

Bummer, we are in a 2 bedroom for 6 nights and ending our trip in a Studio for 2 nights. Those last 2 nights will be brutal. But we are at BWV, we can probably find a way to make do. wink

I wonder if this is a recall and replace with new or if this is something that they are able to fix and return to the room. I hope that this is something where they replace a part and return the unit to the room.

I am happy to NOT have an unsafe fridge in the room with us. Although, my Husband may want me to pick one up that we can take with us, just in case. Sometimes he surprises me with decisions like that.

Okay - I got confused somewhere along the way. Disney is removing the fridges, so why would you have an unsafe fridge in your room? Unless of course you are there right now in one of the rooms that I didn't list above.

I'll bet that is causing a logistics and PR nightmare in Disney HQ right now, not to mention the company that originaly built them. eek

I think she means that she is happy that they won't have an unsafe fridge. As in, better no fridge then an unsafe one. That's how I read it anyway...correct me if I'm wrong WDWfanatic Smile

Yes, that's what I meant. Thanks!!! biggrin

I may not always be clear in what I type. It probably has everything to do with my children fighting right next to me, or my 4 year old reading to me and making me look at the 1000th picture she has drawn that day. Or it could be any number of things that involve my children and me not being able to type a single complete sentence without stopping for whatever reason. wink I apologize. laugh

Oh no Tammi no worries! My week has been crazy - my husband was unexpectedly put in the hospital so I've been camped out at his bedside for the past week. I'm so far behind on reading everything!! I took my computer with me to try and keep up with things just for something to do besides worry. I'm positive that it was just me being distracted. No apologies needed - I do more than my fair share of not being clear, or just plain hitting send before I re-read what I've typed.

Thanks so much everyone!

He came home last night. At first they thought he had a serious gout attack, six doctors and a surgery later it turns out he had a staph infection over his big toe joint. They got it all cleaned out and he's doing much much better.

So glad to see that Geordan is doing better. Nothing worse than spending a week in the hospital and I work in one.

They are deffinately not pulling all fridges, just one model. They came to our room, asked to check the fridge, said all was good. Manager said they are just pulling the one model until they get replacements.
