Tangled Themed Wedding!

Hello all! My name is Alanna and I am new to the forum but not to Disney World! I have been a total of 20 times. My grandparents were vacation club members so they took my often. It is literally my favorite place on earth and I know so much about it! My now fiance and I went there for our first anniversary. We now have been together for three years and just after our third year anniversary he proposed in front of a crowd of 3,000 plus people at a motor sports event we volunteer at every year.
We have set the date for September 3, 2016. We are doing a Tangled inspired wedding. We could not afford to do the wedding in Disney World or have our friends and family there so we are doing it here in NH and then doing our Honeymoon in Disney World. I am so excited.
I was hoping to use this forum as a place to put all my updates and things at and share them with all you lovely folks!
Here are some pictures that we have so far. My proposal there was a professional photographer there as well as a bunch of our friends recording! So I will have it forever!
And my ring! I am so... in love with it! It is a very vintage style a genuine blue sapphire and diamonds surrounding it. I feel like it is very princess!
So far the only things that I have done is looked at a bunch of stuff!I am currently waiting for my bridesmaid proposal gifts to come in. I had custom made wine glasses made for them for each of their favorite princesses. The photo shown is just a photo from the person's etsy site. She is supposed to be finishing those up any day now and then when I get them I have boxes for each bridesmaid. I am going to put a picture and quote of their favorite princess on the cover of the box then when they open it it will say, "will you be my bridesmaid?" Fallowed by a picture of their dresses and where to get them along with a picture of cowgirl boots saying "bring your boots!" ( we are getting married at a 200 year old farm) Inside the box there is going to be the wine glass and a mini bottle of champagne or wine, lavender color nail polish, and a ring pop for their ring!
The bridesmaid dresses are shown but I am getting them in lavender to match the theme my colors are lavender and silver.
I am still deciding what to do for a dress but one of my friends is a really great seamstress and she made my prom dress so I am thinking of having her make my a Rapunzel like wedding dress. We found and bought the pattern to do it, but she is going to make it more of a ballgown bottom. With a purple petticoat underneath. And purple flowers and lots of bead work pearls and stones. Its going to be very pretty. I think my mom still wants to do the shopping experience though. I am a bigger girl so I am a little afraid to go through the shopping experience and feel disappointed.
So other than that I haven't come up with much. I am DEFINITELY doing lanterns! That is for sure and its going to look beautiful in the big field at the farm. I am just so excited to be planning and everything!
Oh I do know that we are going to Disney September 9th to the 18th crossing my fingers that MNSSHP is happening while we are there otherwise I will have to push the dates back because I am not missing that I love that party! I know I want to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour as well. And we are going to be staying at Port Orleans Riverside. Which is a place I have never stayed before but looks super nice and fun! I am so excited and can't wait to keep you all updated.

congrats Please do come and share everything here because I am in love already! Love the wine glasses, LOVE the bridesmaid dresses, love the ring, and love the theme! Tangled is my one year old's favorite movie. I'm so jealous that you have pictures of your proposal, too. DH proposed in the privacy of our own apartment which I liked but I do wish we had some pictures or video to remember that moment by. Can't wait to follow your planning! It sounds fabulous so far! muchlove

congrats

Please share anything and everything about your wedding. It sounds amazing so far. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your ring. Sapphires are my absolute favorite gemstone. Jewelers think my husband is crazy because he always asks for anything with a sapphire WITHOUT diamonds around it. The bridesmaid's dresses are gorgeous. I can't wait to see your gown.

I look the the proposal pics. It is awesome to have something like that. My DH proposed while we were watching TV because it popped into his head to do so. laugh

Welcome Alanna! What fun plans it looks like you have so far!

One side thought: I am also a "thicker" girl (we appear to be similar sized based on your photo) and I DREADED going wedding dress shopping. In the end it was HANDS DOWN one of my favorite planning experiences. A really good shop will have lots of sizes (maybe not in every dress, but then they probably have dresses in larger sizes that look good on bigger girls). There were a few that I couldn't get on, but not enough to really bum me out. Actually there were a couple that caused my mom and I a really good laugh since it was just the two of us. If it was acceptable just go try on big, white princess-y dresses for no reason I would be all over it again. Even though my dress was THE one, I wish I'd gone more just for fun.

Sounds beautiful! Please keep us up to date with your plans - we love to hear the details.

September is a great month to get married - my hubby and I got married on Labour Day weekend several years ago and we have been travelling to WDW to celebrate the last few years. It's a great time to go as the crowds are so low. You just have to be prepared for the daily mid afternoon thunderstorm! biggrin

muchlove Thanks you all! I am super excited! To be planning the wedding as well as our Disneymoon! He did really amazing on the proposal I had NO IDEA and its great to have the memories in photo and video. It was just so awesome I was just speechless I never expected something like that.
My glasses for my bridesmaids have been shipped! So I am looking forward to getting those! When I get them I will post pictures! I have one that is actually Sally from TNBC for my one bridesmaid that is not that much into the princess thing. wink So I can't wait to get those and then I will share the completed boxes as well.
I am currently waiting to hear back from the venue we want. It is a 200 year old farm in the town we live in. It is a historical site and the event has to be approved by a board of directors. I should be hearing back by the middle of next week. If its a no go then I will be back to looking for another option! So I hope its a yes! Its a really beautiful place. I attached photos so you all can see!!
So other than that I haven't done a whole lot once we know for sure about the venue I can start booking things like the photographer and DJ and stuff. And try to get a final list going I think I am cutting it at 200 people. Which I think means we may need to cut back the list a little bit.
And Allie! we are going to have the same Anniversary! lol. That is awesome it really worked out with us for that day we figure we have two days to clean up and recover from the day and then only work a few days before leaving for our Disneymoon! I will definitely keep you all updated on what's going on every step of the way. I am just so excited.

Also, now I am kind of stuck. We were thinking about staying at Port Orleans Riverside this stay. Neither of us have ever been there before and we actually thought the alligator bayou rooms were really cute. But I just found out that during the time we are going the rates for the Deluxe Resorts are really low. And The Wilderness Lodge is my favorite resort. If it were up to you were would you stay for your honeymoon between those two choices.?

Both resorts look lovely. But if you can swing the cost with the discount, go for Wilderness Lodge. We loved staying there.

Both resorts are gorgeous, but if you can spring for deluxe I'd go Wilderness Lodge for sure.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside for our Disneymoon way back when it was Dixie Landings. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge for our 21st anniversary this past Sept. (Our anniversary's a little later in the month, Sept 18th.) I would definitely do WL if it doesn't bust your budget. It's a beautiful resort with great transportation. We loved it there.

My parents already said that they are going to be paying for the trip so our resort and park tickets. We just have to pay for food and souvenirs. I really love Wilderness Lodge as I have stayed there before and its close to the MK which is nice because that is my favorite park and we are going to be going to MNSHP as well. Smile I also want to do the Keys to the Kingdom Tour. So it seems like The Wilderness would be more convenient for us. Has anyone ever ate at Artist Point before? The food sounds so...yummy. It would be a nice high end romantic dinner for one night while we are there. I have food allergies (gluten, wheat, barley, rye, and oats) but by looking at their menu it seems like they don't have a lot of those items which is good for me.
The tracking on my wine glasses says they left the local hub at 4:00am so I am hoping they will be there at the post office today, but they may not be sorted until tomorrow. I am very excited to see them. Now I have just to get ink for my printer to print the other stuff out!

My wine glasses for my girls came in!!!! They are so....nice I highly recommend this lady on Etsy, although she is taking a break right now due to her daughter medical health Sad
https://www.etsy.com/shop/RiversideManor
She created a custom Sally glass for one of my girls that wasn't really into the princess thing and it came out really cool!. I think they are all going to love their glasses. Now just to go to the liquor store tomorrow and grab some mini champagne bottles to go in their boxes. I am hoping to go in the morning as I am seeing my best friend who I am asking to be my maid of honor tomorrow!

Wilderness Lodge is my favorite resort, too, so that would be my pick, but POR is my second favorite. I really don't think that you can go wrong with either choice!

Wildnerness is also my favorite I think we are going to try to go for there and get a studio room in the Villa's.
So update. I have been working on the boxes no pictures yet. My phone is dead. But I will take some pictures when they are all done. I only have two more left to do but ran out of tissue paper.
We still haven't heard back from the place we wanted to have the wedding yet so I am trying to find a back up plan if that isn't going to work out. http://www.colby-sawyer.edu/functions/weddings.html thinking this place might be a good back up and its not far from our home still. So that is also nice.
Also trying to figure out when to go dress shopping. Davids Bridal had a sudden sale but it ends the 17th and its nearly two hours away from me and I don't think I could get out there during the week.

You guys should definitely look into doing a horse drawn carriage ride. I did mine at Port Orleans and it was very magical. It started at Port Orleans-Riverside and took us through both Riverside along with French Quarter. Fort Wilderness is also available as well. It costs $45. The glasses are so pretty! The farm is also really pretty!

So new and exciting updates! We have a new location and this one is even better and it is fully booked and reserved now. My boss at work get wanting me to go look at is especially since I wasn't hearing anything back from the farm. This place is AMAZING. It is on top of a mountain and the people built a big barn with a concrete floor and its so...pretty. You can see for miles up there and it was actually over cast the day I took the pictures. But they have these huge wind turbines up there too which are really awesome to see and something to talk about for sure. What were are going to do is have the DJ and the barn open for a full dance floor have the food go around the room. And then the seating and everything else will be in a wedding tent outside right in front of the barn. The only thing I am concerned about is sticking with the whole tangled theme I wanted to do the lanterns and I am not sure if we will be able to with the wind turbines but I will just have to ask the owners. But I am very excited about this location its going to be so... pretty especially in the fall with all the leaves starting to turn colors. Now we just have to hope for it to be a really nice day! I also got my boxes done and handed them out to a few girls who have said yes! I just have two more to go.
Other than that I have booked a photographer who I went to high school with and is giving me a killer deal. $500 for the save the dates and she will do the wedding and be there the whole day.
Now we are just building our guest list and the next step will probably be the save the date photos which I am hoping to do in September. I am going to do some stuff with my horses and maybe throw in a frying pan and just take some nice shots of us hanging around our barn. Then I found on shutterfly I found these save the dates that are magnets! So I am going to do those and send them out to everyone at Christmas time so they can put them on their fridges and not forget!

https://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/save-the-date/layered-moments-save-the-date-stationerymagnet?productCode=1127094&categoryCode=60412&skuCode=1127095

Getting pretty excited. I will be buying things for the wedding little things at a time over the next year so that hopefully when the time comes everything will be all together and ready!

So I finally got to take pictures of my bridesmaid boxes. The only one I have left to give out is my maid of honors. But I think they turned out awesome and everyone loves them so far.

I also attached a pictures of the boots that I am considering wearing. I like them because they are comfortable and really pretty, and also can be my something blue, but they have a really long toe on them. So I am not 100% on them.

Then I have been fooling around with table designs and stuff. So I have come up with a little collection. I am thinking of doing ivory table cloths 120" so they are floor length. I found a sight where I can get all 24 for $120 and I can resell them after. The same place I can get all 200 lavender napkins for $65 and still try to resell them after the wedding. Then for the plates I am thinking silver and we are doing a pot luck dinner but I want to get the silver plastic silverware and I am going to set the tables up the night before with everything. I was thinking of doing the plates and then a bowl and small plate at every setting, setting it up like mickey ears like the end seat at the table in the ballroom in the haunted mansion. Then I am just going to buy tulle and make chair sash bows with that. And then I found a thing on Pinterest about buying candlestick holders at the dollar store and spray painting them silver. And then my flowers would be deep purple, lavender, and ivory with a few blacks in it. But it would be in a ball on top of the candle sticks. Then I have my men's wear. Lavender shirts, black vests, dark blue jeans, and either the haunted mansion tie, or a deep purple tie. I think the haunted mansion would be cute and a little me flair to it, but that is only if I can get them at the time. I am going dress shopping on the 1st and I am saving my money for that right now so I am not jumping on buying the ties.

And I had save the dates made up! They came out super cute. I wanted something different, cute, and quirky and the Haunted Mansion is my favorite thing ever!!!! and I actually didn't pick this one Adam did! It was the only one he lit up for and liked and he isn't even that big of a haunted mansion fan. I must be rubbing off on him! lol Even though it doesn't match 100% I have added some elements to the colors and such to tie it in a little. But we are going to be putting the save the dates on magnets and sending them out so people can put them on their fridges. Vistaprint is actually having a huge sale right now and I can get 100 magnets made up for 64 dollars! and that includes envelopes as well!

I have actually decided to go. So I made an appointment to go on the 1st. The shop that I am going to is having an Allure trunk show so I am hoping I can find something I really like. I think I am pulling a little more from real life princesses. I really like the Grace Kelly dress. But because its still the beginning of September its still quite hot so looking for that look but short sleeved. I attached a couple of pictures of dresses I like. The first one is just from an online site and its my favorite but I can't find anything that is like designer name like it so IDK if I can find anything like it or not. The next one I found on Pinterst. And the last one is an actual Allure dress but I don't want it in the blush I would rather have it in Ivory.
