Eating in WDW for picky eaters (table service)

Hi all,

What would be your recommendations for table service eating in WDW if you're a picky eater?

I'll be honest straight up and say its ME, I really don't like seafood or cheese based dishes, and finding something other than a burger can be a right task!

I do like the food at the Liberty Inn in MK, and as long as its not fish or cheese ill happily try most things.

Help!

Forget my reply to your other thread then, there's lots of seafood at the chefs table...

I am a VERY picky eater, I don't eat red meat or seafood, or pasta, or chocolate (or at least not what they call chocolate in Florida, yuk!). I do lots of online searching before I make any ADR's and pick things on the menu I will eat.

We have eaten at...
50's prime time
Sci fi dine in
Hollywood brown derby
Mama Melrose
Grand Floridian cafe
Sanaa
Beaches and cream
Teppan ego
Via Napoli
Coral reef
Hoop de doo
Yak and yeti
Planet Hollywood
Rainforest cafe
Wolfgang puck

All of the above served chicken Wink

We are also trying this year,
The plaza
Be our guest
Ohana for dinner
Kona cafe
Whispering canyon cafe
Chef des France

I hope that helps Smile

Art, there is a website called AllEars.net that have menus of all the restaurants in WDW including Downtown Disney. Check it out and you will be able to better choose where you would like to eat.

I also don't like cheese, and I've had very little trouble finding good cheese-free stuff to eat. At table-service restaurants you can usually request that they hold the cheese if it's not an integral part of the dish (a cheeseburger or sandwich can be made without cheese, for example, or a dish that has cheese sauce can be made without the sauce). At counter service restaurants this is not always possible because frequently sandwiches and wraps are premade.

I would suggest the buffets. They have so very many choices, you're bound to find something there you love!

All ears is a great place. My husband is picky picky eater. Basically meat and potatoes. Nothing green, nothing with mayonnaise ( potato salad, cole slaw, macaroni salad,or any mayo based sauces) , tomato or tomato sauces, nothing strange or new. If he can't pronounce he will most likely not eat it. He gets steak every where we go in WDW. The green stuff will just sit there. There are just too many thing he will not eat to list here but the point is go to allears.com

Gotta be honest - I am the same way! And I do nto want to stop others from going to the cool restaurants - and I just like going - there have been times I have ordered off the children's menu. I am on the DP - so it is paid for and I have never had an issue.

Cheers guys.

Ill be honest and say I've not struggled in the past by sticking to the burgers, but wanted something a little different - you've given me some great food (!) for thought!

Oh, I am with you on the plastic cheese sauce. . .but not because I don't like cheese. silly But that horrendous unearthly bright yellow glop. . . It isn't cheese anyway!

So, narrowing it down a little, what are people's favourite dishes they've had, that I should try?

If you like burgers, try the Kobe beef burger at Yak & Yeti! It's not a traditional burger so it may push your comfort zone just enough and it is DELICIOUS!

Table service favorites -

There's all kinds of cheese-free, non-seafood choices on the buffet at Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge. If your only pickiness involves cheese and seafood, you should be fine there. But if you also don't like exotic/international flavors, not the place for you. Restaurant Marrakesh at Epcot's Morocco pavilion falls in the same category - there are lots of menu items that don't involve seafood or cheese, but it's very different from typical American/Canadian/European fare.

Teppan Edo at Epcot's Japan pavilion has steak and chicken done up Japanese style. I got seafood there, but the steaks and chicken looked wonderful.

The Biergarten at Epcot's Germany pavilion has a wonderful German buffet. Most of the foods on this buffet will not be completely alien to people from English-speaking countries - sausages, chicken, pork, veggies, potatoes, salads, and wonderful desserts.

Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater at DHS has some non-burger entrees that can be made without cheese. I haven't eaten there in a couple of years and don't recall what I ordered, but it wasn't a burger and it wasn't bad.

I've heard wonderful things about the fried chicken at 50s Prime Time Cafe at DHS, although I've never eaten there myself.

Crazycatperson - spicy food is a personal favourite of mine- the hotter the better! So Boma sounds great! As does the Kobe Burger- having once enjoyed Kobe beef before I'm salivating at the mere thought of it !
