Romance for Free?

What are some of your favorite ways to add romance to your vacation without spending on "extras?"

Oh gosh..Dave and I are soo not romantical..but if we are feeling sappy we'll head over to the Poly Beach to watch Wishes..or take a walk around our resort really late at night (you know..when we aren't passed out dead asleep from exhaustion).

I do like the evening boat rides. The problem is you never know who else will be on the boat.

I can think of lots of ways but Jan would probably want me to stay with her.
wink
Actually we live our lives in romance. We spend 24 hours a day together and love it. Disney just provides us the chance to enhance our romance.
Wow!!! What a place for lovers. Even old ones like us.

laugh You could bring a little candle and a bottle of wine..the only problem would be if you have to stand on the boat because there are too many people.

I've never done the GF hammocks. Are they past the pools? Are they easier to get than the ones at the Poly?

I like the boat from DTD to POR. If you go in the evening during the dinner hour there is hardly anyone onboard. We've been luck enough a couple of times where we were the ONLY guests onboard. One time there was a huge thunderstorm out over the Gulf and we could see the lightening from the Sassagoula. Very romantic...

If I am there I know exactly where they are on the beach...best way to put it..ya know where The Cafe is? and the foorway leading out of the resort from there? Keep walking towards the beach...There is a smoking area right there also...thats the best way I can tell you how to get there

The last time Daniel and I were there our last night we spent some time laying in one of the hammocks at Coronado Springs. I thought that was very romantic.

Tee hee hee! So many romantic ideas! MY hubby and I like to go for walks and hold hands. There are many quiet, romantic paths throughout the Disney parks and the resorts. We love POR for romantic walks. There are also a few nice paths through Epcot and the Magic Kingdom that have blooming rose bushes and such to add to the ambiance. muchlove wink

Snuggling up on dark rides is nice, too Smile Yes, you can behave yourself. But still...hurdling through space while Judi Dench is narrating, with the nice, cool airconditioning and a great view of earth Smile

Actually, I think it's just fun and romantic to be someplace where you can pretend you're kids, and have fun. So, anywhere in the World qualifies with that definition. Smile

What about hottubs, especially during the cooler months? Or do you find them to overrun with kiddoes to be romantic?

We usually hit the hottubs at night and I actually don't even remember kids being in them..so that was a plus!

This isnt romantic... but going to agree with ya. My son and I hit the hot tubs at night. AKL has a couple of them, but one of them is kinda hidden. A bit away from everything else. No one there hardly ever when we were there.

Time for some new romance ideas! Let's bring this one up to the forefront and think of some new ways to inject a little romance into that Disney vacay Smile

Thoughts?

I love outdoor dining. Are there particularly romantic places to dine al fresco that y'all can think of?

Okay, I need more hammock information please, pretty please. silly

There are two resorts mentioned here as having hammocks. Are they available and accessible for anyone? Anyone staying at THAT resort? Are there lots? 1? Details please.

When DH & I went on a Disney Cruise that included a stop at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island, we fell in LOVE with relaxing in a hammock. I had NO CLUE this exists anywhere at WDW. Please share details. Thank you!

I'll add one idea: We ate at Cinderella's Royal Table, just the two of us. We got the table that is by the window and overlooks the carousel, at night. It was very sweet.

Dreams, you should be hearing from mrhub or scrappy as far as the Poly goes they are the hammock and beaches experts. silly

I am sure they are for any one to use. However, there are not very many of them at the Poly. I do see them empty a lot when we are staying there but that is during the mornings and early afternoons. I am sure you would have to grab one early and stick with it if you wanted it for the fireworks.

I can pipe up and say that there are very lovely hammocks at Caribbean Beach Resort, too! You might not be able to see fireworks, but, well...you finish that sentence Smile

I've also heard tale of them at Coronado and Grand Floridian. Certainly, they're available for guests of the resorts, and I've never really had a problem visiting resorts, either...so I would imagine you could snag one with no problem.

The hammocks at the Poly usually get snagged for the fireworks up to an hour before. There are several places along the beach with hammocks. No there are not lots, maybe 10 total at the Poly if that.

The quiet balconies at AKL, the ones just off the lobby are nice for some alone time. At CBR there are a couple secluded spots on the island just across from the pool. clapping

I agree that the boat from DTD to POR is VERY romantic and intimate! And I went on in the middle of the day with a bunch of people I didn't know! Go figure - - haha. It's very quiet and the river is beautiful and surrounded by trees.... Plus POR is extremely beautiful to look at... I can only imagine what it's like at night. I think i've just added this to my list of "free" things to do! yay
