• New Fantasyland Splash Pad Now Open

    Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom now have a new way of beating the heat. The Casey Jr. Splash 'N' Soak Station opened last Friday in the Storybook Circus part of Fantasyland.

    Casey Jr., the steam engine featured in "Dumbo" that pulled the circus into town, and its four boxcars full of animals (monkeys, camels, elephants and giraffes) begin a "journey" every ten minutes or so. Though the train doesn't move, guests can hear locomotive sounds and see a mist coming from the train.

  • New Character Meet and Greet in Magic Kingdom

    Walt Disney World has designated a new space for meeting characters within the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland. Guests can now catch up with their favorite personalities from the Hundred Acre Wood next to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

    Pooh and his friends used to greet guests near the Splash Mountain exit, but now make their greeting home near Pooh's attraction. In addition, Woody and Jessie of "Toy Story" fame will now be meeting up with guests at the Splash Mountain exit location (they were previously at the upper Splash Mountain gate).

  • "Cars" Wing at Art of Animation Resort Now Open

    Earlier this week, Disney's newest resort opened its second wing of family suites to guests. The "Cars" wing of the Art of Animation Resort opened for guests Monday, June 18.

    Inspired by the flick "Cars", the newest set of rooms feature Lightning McQueen, Mater, Flo, Doc Hudson and other characters from the movie welcoming guests to Radiator Springs. Guests will also take in a myriad of orange cones - they are reported to be found in the carpeting, light fixtures and as the inspiration of the cabanas near the Cozy Cone pool.

  • Report Shows 16 Guests Injured at Walt Disney World

    The first quarter for 2012 injury report is in, and its results show Walt Disney World had the highest number of reported guest injuries among central Florida's theme parks with sixteen.

    It's worth noting, however, that this injury report includes any kind of medical-related incident that happened within the parks.

  • New Meet and Greet Planned for Disney's Animal Kingdom

    Disney is planning a new character meet and greet to debut at its Animal Kingdom park. The site of the new meet and greet will be Beastly Bazaar; that store is set to close August 12 to undergo its transformation to the character-guest meet up space.

    Guests who liked the Beastly Bazaar's bulk candy purchasing option will be happy to note this feature will still be offered within the park after the store's closing - at Chester and Hester's in the Dinoland, U.S.A. section.

  • Disney Names Partial 2012 Candlelight Processional Narrators List

    It's never too early to start talking about the holidays, especially when it concerns Walt Disney World! Disney has released a partial list of those celebrities who are set to host this year's Candlelight Processional. This year, the annual holiday show and tradition will light up Epcot from November 23 through December 30. Here are the narrators lined up thus far:

    • 11/26 - 11/29 - Neil Patrick Harris

  • Walt Disney World Resort Receives New Tennis Lesson Provider

    Earlier this month, Orlando Tennis Services, LLC was named as Walt Disney World Resort's new tennis lesson provider.

    It looks like any WDW Resort guest will be able to take part in tennis lessons. The cost for lessons is $90 per hour, and guests need not own or bring their own equipment to receive lessons as it's provided. Tennis courts are available for lessons at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Board Walk Resort, Bay Lake Tower, Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. Disney Vacation Club Members can receive a ten percent discount on lessons.

  • Annual Disney Trading Event Coming to Epcot This September

    Fans of Disney pin and Vinylmation trading take note: this year's annual Disney Trading event is set to take place September 7-9 at Epcot. The theme for this year's trading extravaganza is "Mickey's Circus."

    Two days of Mickey's Circus will be dedicated to pin trading. There are some 26 pins designed specifically for this event including boxed sets, individual pins and Passholder-only pins.

  • Disney's Hollywood Studios Sign Involved In Small Fire

    Disney's Hollywood Studios was the scene of a small electrical fire over the weekend that caused damage to one of its popular signs.

    On Saturday night, the sign at the Magic of Disney Animation building caught fire when a ballast shorted out sometime around 9:20 PM. The area in and around the building was evacuated and no guests or cast members were injured during the small fire.

    At this time, the show inside of the building is still up and running. It's lights out, however, for the sign until it's completely repaired.

  • Victoria & Albert's Receives AAA Five-Diamond Award

    Congratulations are in order for the staff of Victoria & Albert's. The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa's swanky restaurant earned a AAA Five-Diamond status - for the 13th consecutive year.

    AAA reviews some 28,000 restaurants; out of those, only 53 earned the Five-Diamond award. Victoria & Albert's also joins an elite group of 21 to have that honor for thirteen years running.
