I wish all of you could have been on the cruise with us. What a party that would have been. Probably would have needed a bigger boat though laugh .

Back to the trip report. Monday we woke up to another beautiful day. We began our day with breakfast at the Wave. You can order off their menu or do their buffet. We both have always chosen to do the buffet. The food is mostly local and organic. It is a nice quiet place to start your day. We are early risers though so we are in there when they open at 7:30.

Our only plans for the day was Going to Animal Kingdom as we had an ADR at Yak & Yeti for 5:00. We had made our FP+ selections for Animal Kingdom but the first one was not till 2. This left us a lot of time to do something else. We both agreed, it was time to visit the Poly and check out the renovations. We went back to our room to grab what we needed for the day.

It was a beautiful day! We hopped on the monorail and off we went to the Poly. If any of you follow any of the Poly fan websites you know that most people are not very happy with what is going on. I myself am very excited to see the changes. DVC at the Poly....yes please. And the other renovations have me excited as well. As much as I love the Poly, I do think it was time for some changes and updates. The Boutiki shop in the Poly is where I made my second purchase of the trip, my Alex and Ani bracelets. I could not choose between Mickey and Minnie so I settled for both.

Happy with our Poly fix, we went back to BLT to get our car and head to the Animal Kingdom. We did all of our favorites like Dinosaur, the Saffari, Its Tough to Be a Bug and Mark rode Everest. For the first time and it looks like the last time, we watched a bit if the parade. Before we knew it, it was time for our meal at Yak & Yeti. I did enjoy my meal there but it is not a must do for me.

After dinner we walked towards the exit while looking through the shops. We went back to our room for a little break. Once again we were treated to an amazing sunset. Once the sun was gone we decided to go up and check out the Top of the World Lounge. We were both glad we did it. We each had a drink and shared a giant piece of chocolate cake. It was a new way to watch the fireworks for us. It was a fun way to end our day.

When the fireworks were over we were ready to call it a day.

My highlight of the day was finding the Mickey and Minnie bracelets. I am not a jewelry person but I do love them. I also really enjoyed ending our night up at the lounge. Once again, I did not really have a low of the day.

Marks highlight of the day was the Top of the World Lounge.
Marks low was visiting the Poly and knowing we were not staying there.

My turn,

Top of the World Lounge was great, I love it! Nice bar, great wait staff, killer Rye Manhattan, did I say KILLER Rye Manahttan. The view is rather spectacular also . I would love to be up there in the middle of a thunder storm.

How did the Top of the World Lounge affect your dislike of heights? I'm not a fan of heights either but I'd like to go up there and check it out.

I was wondering what you and Mr Hubs thoughts were on the Poly refurb. I'm excited for the changes, too! Of course the Poly is amazing as it is/was but it sounds like they have some fun ideas in store (Trader Sams!!!)

Great TR!

It is a chocolatini. The cake was good but a bit much for two. However, I am really not a cake eater so I may not be a good judge of how good. It was a very big piece though.

Spook, I was very comfortable up there. The wall is very high out on the deck. I did not feel like I was up all that high. I was much more aware of the height at the California Grill out on their walks. I do not venture far from the door when I am there.

Allie, while I am nothing but excited over the changes coming to the Poly, Mrhub has his own thoughts. I think everything that is planned sounds wonderful. He does not share my excitement over some of the changes. I will let him share his feelings with you.

The only downside to can see to all of the changes is the fact that they are now taking 3 buildings for DVC. I love the thought of DVC coming in. However, with DVC taking up more room in a already small resort I am afraid we have seen the end of discounts available for rooms.

First off, that piece of cake was not big, it was humongous! I thought it was delicious Amanda, but 4 people could share believe me, next we meet up, what do you say! It's on me. Chocolatini's and 7 layers Chocolate cake!

Allie, I am really excited about the changes and looking forward to them, just sorry to see the lobby water feature go, it's always been like it's the heart of the Poly, the thing that kept it beating, and a lot of people think its going to hurt the Poly when it's gone. But change is inevitable everywhere and I'm sure Disney has looked at every aspect. They don't always make the right decisions, but most times they do, so I'm sure its all going to be wonderful in the end.

I cant wait for Traders Sams, i've been dying for this to come to the Poly. And the new lobby just from what i've seen looks pretty nice.

And of course can't forget DVC. Like Scrappy, I wish they had not taken existing longhouse , but would have put up a new larger building for DVC. It took a lot of rooms from the regular resort, so our favorite building, Tuvalu, will probably be harder to get than ever now. I do want points at the Poly though. Also, regardless of what anyone else thinks, we love the bungalows going in. I don't give a crap if you can't swim in the water and it's not crystal clear and blue! I say to all the people whining about that, if you want that so bad, go get the real thing in the south seas. I want Disney World!

The weather gods were on our side and we woke up to yet another beautiful morning. First stop today was the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast. We only discovered this place a few trips ago and it has quickly become a must do each trip. We have had both breakfast and lunch here and really enjoy both meals. I also just love walking around the resort.

We did spend a little time watching the grounds crew plant new flowers. What a process. They used what looked like a giant drill to drill all the holes for the flowers and plants first. It was a rather large area they were covering.

We then headed back to the monorail for a trip over to EPCOT. We spent several hours in Future World. We did all of our normal must do things.

The Flower and Garden Festival was going on so there were tons of colorful flowers everywhere. I really did enjoy walking around looking at all of the displays.

GREAT photos! I like the one of MrHub holding up Spaceship Earth.

The Flower & Garden festival looks really great too. It's SO much more decorative than the "normal" Epcot, but I guess that's the point! LOL.

Very nice! I'd forgotten about the topiaries that they bring out. We saw those stored backstage at Disney's greenhouses during the Backstage Magic tour we took a couple of years ago. A lot of work goes into that festival.
